Violinist Danny Koo — the first classical musician to appear on MBC's "I Live Alone," which brought him a mainstream audience — plays a recital, "Classic Mode, Danny Koo Violin," at 5 p.m. on 28 November at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei. Pianist Moon Jae-won joins him, and the concert is presented by the Kumho Cultural Foundation. General tickets go on sale today, 4 September, at noon through Interpark (NOL Ticket), Ticketlink and other sellers. All seats are KRW 70,000, and preschool children are not admitted.
The programme opens with Antonín Dvořák's Sonatina for violin and piano, known as "Indian Lament," followed by Béla Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances in Zoltán Székely's arrangement. The second half is Edvard Grieg's Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor.
Koo holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the New England Conservatory and has performed with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, the Korean National Symphony Orchestra and the Busan Philharmonic, as well as at the Seoul Jazz Festival and the Jeonju International Sori Festival. He released his first solo album on Warner Music Korea in 2022, gave a recital at Lotte Concert Hall and received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2025 he was named Seocho District's first honorary ambassador, and he has appeared on SBS's "Our Ballad" and KBS's "The Seasons."
