Synopsis
[공연소개] 연극 '사진신부'는 1910년 하와이로 이주한 한인 여성들의 삶을 다룬 작품입니다. 이 연극은 당시 하와이 사탕수수밭에서 일하던 조선 노동자들과 결혼하기 위해 사진 한 장만으로 혼인을 결정했던 여성들의 이야기를 중심으로 전개됩니다. 이들은 결혼 후 하와이로 이주해 혹독한 노동과 인종차별, 그리고 사진과는 다른 현실적인 신랑과의 만남 등 여러 어려움을 겪습니다. 하지만 이러한 고난 속에서도 가정을 꾸리고, 한국인의 정과 의리로 새로운 삶을 개척해 나가는 모습을 보여줍니다. 이 작품은 초기 한인 이민자들의 고난과 극복의 이야기를 통해 한국인의 긍지를 되새기고, 희망과 감동을 전합니다.
