Producer S&Co announced the complete casting for the 40th-anniversary special season of The Phantom of the Opera on 20 September. Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical has played 217 cities in 52 countries in 23 languages, drawing more than 160 million people, and has won over 70 major awards including Tony and Olivier Awards. 2026 marks both the show's 40th year worldwide and the 25th year since its Korean premiere.

Who is playing the Phantom?
Three actors share the title role: Choi Jae-rim, Jeon Dong-seok and Park Kang-hyun. Choi and Jeon both appeared in the 2023 production and return to the mask; Park joins as this season's new Phantom, completing the triple casting.
Lee Hae-won and Choi Seon-ho are newly cast as Christine. Raoul is shared by Song Won-geun, who appeared in the 2023 season, and Kim Seong-sik.

Associate director Rainer Fried said of the casting that the season "will be not only a rediscovery of the work, but a journey on which we discover an entirely new side of each performer."
Which performers have been with the Korean production longest?
Alongside the leads are actors who carry the Korean production's own history. Yoon Young-seok, who has appeared more than 600 times across the Korean-language productions, plays Monsieur André, and Lee Sang-jun, who holds the record with more than 700 appearances, plays Monsieur Firmin. Kim A-sun, who made her debut in the 2001 Korean premiere and has since reached 500 performances, plays Madame Giry.
They are joined by Evelyn and Han Bo-ra as Carlotta, Cho Ha-rin as Meg Giry and Lee Sang-mun as Piangi, in a company of 41 drawn from classical music, musical theatre and ballet.
When do tickets go on sale?
No on-sale date or prices have been announced. The run is Seoul-only, playing for roughly two months from 22 December to 28 February 2027 at Blue Square Woori Bank Hall.
As of writing, the season was not yet registered with KOPIS, Korea's performing-arts information system. Once it is, the per-date schedule and ticket vendors will appear on the performance's own page.
