Can you see the stage properly from Palgong Hall's balcony?

From section E, rows 1–6, yes. Those seats look straight down on the full stage, which suits dance, ballet and opera — anything where the shape of the whole stage picture matters. Sections D and F, by contrast, run along the side walls toward the stage, so the same balcony gives a noticeably different view depending on which section you are in.

Section E divides again front to back. It runs rows 1 to 10, with a cross aisle between rows 6 and 7, so row 7 onward is the rear block. Rows 1 to 9 hold 16 seats each; row 10 holds 14. Balcony row 1 has nothing in front of it, but the rail can cut across the bottom of your view — if you are short, rows 2 to 4 in the centre are a safer pick.

Rows 1 to 3 are closest but leave you looking up at the stage, and when the S pit seats are sold as auditorium seating you end up behind them — so check the distance to the stage on the booking screen. Which seats are best in Biseul Hall's 239?

The centre section, B. Biseul Hall is a single-level studio theatre of 239 seats including 3 wheelchair spaces, so nowhere is far from the stage, and sections A and C wrap around it at an angle.

The stage is 68㎡, roughly a ninth of Palgong Hall's. The centre presents Biseul Hall as a room for recitals and plays, which is the right way to think about the scale: an actor's expression and a soloist's breathing carry.

One thing worth stating plainly: the Biseul Hall page does not publish a per-section seat count. The total of 239, the 3 wheelchair spaces and the 68㎡ stage are the whole of the official figures. Numbers circulating online like "section B, 10 rows of 12" are read off the seating-chart image by eye. Unlike Palgong Hall, there is no way to check them, so take capacities from the booking screen.

Each row sits a step higher than the one in front, so sightlines past other heads are good, and vertical aisles between the centre and side sections make getting in and out easy. For a play, take section B rows 1 to 2; for a comfortable head-on view, section B rows 3 to 7 in the middle.

Can anyone park at Daegu Arts Center?

No. The centre's directions page limits the car park to "users of the centre's facilities, attending a performance or exhibition", with parking for any other purpose not permitted. The same page carries a separate line asking visitors to please use public transport because the car park gets very congested.

The Monday opening and the figure of 8 accessible spaces come from the answers in the centre's own FAQ. Monday is the regular closing day, and the car park is opened anyway from 06:00 to 22:00.

What does parking cost, and how many spaces are there?

Neither is published. This is the most unusual thing about parking here. Not the directions page, not either of the two parking answers in the FAQ, gives a rate table or a total space count. The only number in any official source is the 8 accessible spaces.

So if you need the rate, calling the administration team on 053-430-7611 is the only way to get it. This article will not repeat a figure found elsewhere, because there is no official source behind one.

The site plan shows Palgong Hall and Biseul Hall inside one building, grouped with the art museum and Yeryeongwan — so taking in an exhibition before a show is an easy detour.

How do I get there by metro?

Line 1 to Seobu Bus Terminal Station, or Line 2 to Duryu Station. By the centre's own figures, it is a 10-minute walk from exit 1 of Seobu Bus Terminal Station on Line 1. From Line 2, leave Duryu Station by exit 14 and change to bus 501, alighting at Munhwa Yesul Hoegwan Ap.

There are two stops, Munhwa Yesul Hoegwan Ap and Munhwa Yesul Hoegwan Geonneo, and all of the routes above serve both. The address is 201 Gongwonsunhwan-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu (42672), and the main number is 053-430-7600.

Is there a cloakroom, and somewhere to eat?

There is a cloakroom; there is no dining space for audiences. The centre's etiquette page asks you to leave food and drink other than bottled water with a lid, plus bouquets, large bags and anything noisy, at the cloakroom before entering. Ask a steward on the night for its location and hours.

On food the FAQ is blunt. Its wording is "no separate dining space is provided for audiences, for which we ask your understanding" — the green room on Palgong Hall's level 2 is for performers.

If you need somewhere to wait beforehand, use the café in the art museum building. The centre's amenities page notes it stocks books and reading matter on arts and culture and has group seating for 15 to 20 people, which makes it a practical place to meet.

For the day itself:

Membership is free and involves identity verification. Members book the centre's own and its resident companies' productions without a booking fee and get a member discount. Tickets already bought as a non-member remain valid, but checks and cancellations are handled by phone only.

Phone enquiries run Monday to Friday 09:00–18:00 (closed 12:00–13:00), and NOL Universe, formerly Interpark, is on 1544-1555. Tickets can be collected at the box office on the day; the centre suggests arriving an hour before with your booking number and ID.

Do the KOPIS figures agree with the centre's own?

The seat counts match exactly; one stage area is wildly out. This compares the Daegu Arts Center record in KOPIS, Korea's performing-arts data network, with the centre's own pages.

The last row differs by more than eight times. The centre puts Palgong Hall's stage at 617㎡ while KOPIS holds 5,268㎡, which is hard to read as the area of a single stage. For a sense of the venue's scale, use the centre's 617㎡.

Two more mismatches are worth knowing. The phone number on the KOPIS record is 053-606-6114 and its website link is an old address that no longer resolves (artcenter.daegu.go.kr). The current main number is 053-430-7600 and the site is daeguartscenter.or.kr. KOPIS also records this venue as having no café, although there is one on the ground floor of the art museum.

KOPIS additionally lists the Kolon Outdoor Music Hall at 1,080 seats — larger than Palgong Hall, and a separate performance space on the same site.
