Who is guitarist Kim Kwang-seok?

After debuting as lead guitarist of He-5, Kim played in He-6 and established himself as a session guitarist. According to the press release, he has played on albums by Cho Yong-pil, Kim Hyun-sik, Jeon In-kwon, Shim Soo-bong, Lee Moon-se and Shin Seung-hun, among others, and is said to have recorded on more than 100,000 songs.

As a solo artist he has released four albums: his first original instrumental record, 'The Confession' (1995), then 'The Secret' (2003), 'Eunhasu' (Milky Way, 2008) and 'Gureum Wieseo Nolda' (Playing Above the Clouds, 2012). He developed his own instrument, the 'bita', combining the Western guitar with the East Asian lute known as the bipa, and used it for his 'Kim Kwang-seok-style bita sanjo'; that album was nominated for Best Jazz & Crossover Album at the 8th Korean Music Awards in 2011. In 2010 he received a Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism commendation at the first Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

What kind of show will it be?

The organiser describes the concert as a stripped-back set, with no elaborate staging, built around one guitar and fifty years of music. "This concert is the history of the sessions behind 100,000 songs, and the history of a composer-performer proven across four solo albums," said Lee Sang-hoon, head of Black Stone Studio. The setlist has not been announced.
