Gwanghwamun Sonata, the musical built on the songs of Lee Young-hoon, will open the new year in Suwon. According to the product page on NOL Ticket, the Suwon run is at the Grand Theater of Gyeonggi Arts Center on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January 2027, with performances at 2pm and 6:30pm each day, four in total. Tickets go on sale at 4pm on Monday 14 September. The run is presented by Gyeonggi Arts Center and Haneul ENT, organised by Haneul ENT and produced by CJ ENM.
This season opened on 6 September at the D-Cube Theater of D-Cube Link Art Center in Seoul. The Seoul run registered with KOPIS, Korea's performing-arts database, continues until 15 November, produced by CJ ENM and planned by OpenReview. Lee Young-hoon is credited for lyrics and music, with Ko Sun-woong, Lee Ji-na and Kim Sung-soo among the creative team. After the Seoul season, the show plays Dream Theatre Busan on 21 and 22 November, and Suwon is the city after that. The Busan dates are registered with KOPIS with World Show Market as planner and presenter.
As it happens, the Busan and Suwon tickets open on the same day, two hours apart. NOL Ticket's list of upcoming openings shows Busan at 2pm on the 14th and Suwon at 4pm, so the two regional runs go on sale together.
The prices differ slightly from Seoul and Busan. Suwon is 158,000 won for VIP, 138,000 won for R, 110,000 won for S and 77,000 won for A, whereas the Seoul season and the Busan dates registered with KOPIS are 160,000, 140,000, 110,000 and 80,000 won. Every grade except S is 2,000 to 3,000 won cheaper in Suwon. The age guidance is also written differently: ages 8 and up for Suwon according to the ticketing page, ages 7 and up for Seoul in the KOPIS record. The running time is 155 minutes including a 20-minute interval, and tickets are dispatched in a single batch between Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 December 2026, a month before the performances.
The Suwon cast announced so far has Son Jun-ho and Lee Seok-hoon as Myung-woo, Enoch and Cha Ji-yeon as Wol-ha, Ryu Seung-ju as Su-ah, Moon Jin-ah and Park Se-mi as Si-young, and Ki Se-jung and Park Hee-jun as young Myung-woo. The product page carries a casting-change notice, so the final line-up may still shift. As of 14 September the Suwon run is not yet in the KOPIS performance database. The show previously toured in early 2025, including Gunsan, Daejeon and Daegu.
