Busan Cinema Center parking on show days: the 4-hour free validation, Centum City Station and Haneul Theater’s 841 seats
Busan Cinema Center’s underground car park (501 cars, 20 accessible spaces) is free for 4 hours for Haneul Theater ticket holders, but only after you validate the ticket at the theater’s QR banner or the Cine Mountain B1 pay station. Holidays and Roof Theater events filled it five times in 2026, so on those days walk 5 minutes from exit 12 or 6 of Centum City Station.

영화의전당 (Busan Cinema Center) is the Busan International Film Festival's home in Centum City, Haeundae, and its indoor performance hall is 하늘연극장 (Haneul Theater). Everything below was checked in October 2026 against the venue's own parking, directions, FAQ, notice-board and facilities pages. Parking and event schedules change often, so confirm with the venue before you go (main line 051-780-6000, performances 051-780-6060).
Does the Busan Cinema Center car park really fill up on show days?
Yes, on days when a Haneul Theater show coincides with a public holiday, an outdoor event at the Roof Theater or a film premiere with a stage greeting. Between January and October 2026 the venue posted five "parking congestion, please use public transport" notices, and 2025 had five more (5 May, 24 May, 29 May to 8 June, 29 November and 25 December). A weekday evening with only the theater running is rarely the problem; the trouble comes when the plaza and the cinemas are busy at the same time.
These are the 2026 congestion notices on the venue's notice board.
| Date (2026) | What overlapped | Notice posted |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 May (Fri–Tue) | Labour Day, the weekend, and the Children's Day festival on the Roof Theater plaza | 25 Apr |
| 8–11 June (Mon–Thu) | 2026 KoCACA Art Festival in Busan, indoors and out | 8 Jun |
| 15–16 August (Sat–Sun) | Liberation Day weekend, a play at Haneul Theater, BEAT ON STAGE at the Roof Theater, film screenings | 14 Aug |
| 11 September (Fri) | Busan International Disability Rights Film Festival at Haneul Theater, a cinema concert at the Roof Theater | 10 Sep |
| 19 September (Sat) | Cinema in Concert at Haneul Theater, an esports match at the Roof Theater, film stage greetings | 17 Sep |

Notices usually go up between a day and a week ahead, and sometimes on the day itself. If your date is a holiday or the Roof Theater has an event booked, check the Busan Cinema Center notice board first.
How much is parking for Haneul Theater ticket holders, and how do I validate?
Haneul Theater ticket holders park free for 4 hours, and each 30 minutes beyond that costs 1,000 won. The free period is not applied automatically: you validate your ticket in advance, either at the QR-code banner inside Haneul Theater or at the unmanned pay station on basement level 1 of the Cine Mountain building.
The underground car park holds up to 501 cars, 20 of them accessible spaces, and is open 08:00–23:00 every day. The rates below come from the venue's parking page and its notice on using the underground car park.

| Who | Rate or condition |
|---|---|
| Leave within 30 minutes of entry | Free |
| Over 30 minutes | Standard rate, 1,000 won per 30 minutes (30 min–1 hr is 2,000 won) |
| Performance or film ticket holders | Free if you leave within 4 hours (validate first) |
| Café customers | 1 hour free with a purchase of 5,000 won or more |
| Electric vehicles charging | 1 hour free |
| Daily maximum | 15,000 won (within 24 hours) |
One detail is easy to miss: the free 30 minutes is a grace period, not a free first half-hour. The notice's rate table charges 2,000 won for a stay of 30 minutes to an hour, so once you go over 30 minutes the whole stay is billed at the standard rate.
What to know at the pay station:
- It is card only. Cash is not accepted, and the car park is unstaffed.
- Paying at a pre-payment station gives you 30 minutes to drive out. After the show, validate first, then walk down to the car.
- A mobile ticket works: hold the QR code on your screen to the station's QR reader. For a paper or receipt ticket, scan the barcode at the bottom.
- From the car park to the theater, take the Cine Mountain basement lift.
- If a machine fails, press the intercom button or call the venue's control room on 051-780-6105.

A show of about two hours, with an hour either side, still fits inside the 4 free hours. A long dinner or café stop before the show can push you over, so note the time you drove in.
Do compact cars or disabled drivers get a parking discount?
Yes. Compact cars under 1,000cc, eco-friendly cars, and vehicles of disabled people, national merit recipients and multi-child families pay 50% of the parking fee. Ask for it at exit by pressing the intercom on the exit pay station; staff apply it after checking your sticker or proof.
| 50% discount | Condition (per the venue) |
|---|---|
| Compact car | Under 1,000cc |
| Eco-friendly car | Displays the eco-friendly vehicle sticker issued by Busan City |
| Disabled people, national and independence merit recipients | Disabled drivers only when the disabled person is driving or riding in the car |
| Multi-child families | Registered on the Family Love Card (가족사랑카드) |
Cars with a disability badge may use the accessible spaces, but the venue's accessibility page says the badge must be the "parking permitted" type.
How long is the walk from Centum City Station if I leave the car at home?
From exit 12 or exit 6 of Centum City Station on Busan Metro Line 2, Busan Cinema Center is a 5-minute walk. On a day with a congestion notice, public transport is usually the faster option. The routes below are taken from the venue's directions page.
| Mode | Route |
|---|---|
| Metro | Line 2, Centum City Station, exit 12 or 6, then 5 minutes on foot |
| City bus | Get off at Shinsegae Department Store, then 5 minutes on foot (5-1, 36, 39, 40, 63, 115, 139, 141, 155, 181, 307 (seated), 1001 and 1002 (express)) |
| KTX | Busan Station, then bus 5-1, 40, 139 or 1001 from the stop in front of the station to Shinsegae Department Store |
| Air | Gimhae International Airport, then the airport limousine bus to Shinsegae Department Store (about 50 minutes) |
The address is 120 Suyeonggangbyeon-daero, Haeundae-gu, Busan. The venue's page still lists a conventional-rail route from Seoul Station to Haeundae Station, but the old Haeundae Station closed in 2013 when the Donghae Line was relocated, so ignore that one.

Haneul Theater occupies floors 1 to 3 of the Cine Mountain building, marked "a" on the site map. The same building holds the venue's Middle Theater (413 seats), Small Theater (212) and Cinematheque (212).
Which of Haneul Theater's 841 seats should I think twice about?
Haneul Theater has 841 seats across three floors of Cine Mountain, and the only zones worth checking before you book are the OP (orchestra-pit) seats and the box (balcony) seats on floors 2 and 3. The venue's FAQ says both can have restricted views, and that seats cannot be swapped or refunded on the day because of the view.
The venue's figure of 841 seats matches the 841 registered for Haneul Theater on KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, exactly.

| Zone | Layout (per the official seat map) | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| OP seats | Orchestra pit, rows A–C | Used as stage or seating depending on the show; flat floor, so performers' lower legs can be hidden |
| Floor 1 | Rows 1–14, an aisle between rows 1–3 and 4–14 | Seats 1–28 per row; 1–7 stage left, 22–28 stage right |
| Floor 2 | Centre rows 1–7, plus Box 1 and Box 2 with 11 seats each | Boxes view the stage from the side and are not raked |
| Floor 3 | Centre rows 1–5, plus Box 1 and Box 2 with 11 seats each | Boxes view the stage from the side and are not raked |
The OP seats are the closest to the stage, but they sit on a flat floor set lower than the stage. The venue's facilities page gives a 1.2 m drop from the auditorium floor to the stage floor, and its FAQ warns that from the OP seats you may not see performers below the knee. The box seats look at the stage from the side, so part of the stage can be out of view.

The door numbers help too: floor 1 uses doors 101–104, floor 2 uses 201 and 202, and floor 3 uses 301 and 302.
How many seats does the outdoor Roof Theater have, and what happens if it rains?
The Roof Theater is an outdoor venue of "around 4,000 seats" by the venue's own description: 2,486 fixed seats plus 500 to 1,500 movable ones. KOPIS registers it as an outdoor theater of 4,000 seats, which is close to the 3,986 you get by adding the fixed seats to the movable maximum. The seating is covered by a roof, so shows go ahead in rain, though a typhoon can change the schedule without notice.
When should I arrive on the day, and where can I leave my things?
The venue asks you to arrive 30 minutes before curtain to collect tickets at the Haneul Box Office on the ground floor of Cine Mountain, and to be in your seat 10 minutes before. For most shows the doors open 30 minutes before the start, though the performers or the set can change that.

- Cloakroom: the cloakroom inside the Haneul Box Office is free for visitors. It takes bouquets, large suitcases and pushchairs; keep valuables and cash with you.
- Drinks: hand coffee and other drinks to the usher at the theater door and collect them at the interval or after the show. Food left with staff is thrown away if not collected within 10 minutes of the end.
- In the auditorium: only bottled water with a cap is allowed.
- Arriving late: you can enter only when an usher says so, and you sit where you are shown rather than in your own seat. If there is an interval, move to your seat then.
- Also: there are no opera glasses for hire and no children's play room. For lost property at Haneul Theater, call 051-780-6036.
Can I see a show at Haneul Theater in a wheelchair?
Yes. Haneul Theater has 8 wheelchair spaces on floor 1, four on each side of row 4. They are open spaces with no seat, reached through a separate entrance, and the house manager and ushers will guide you there. A companion can sit in the row directly behind, and the venue's FAQ recommends booking by phone (051-780-6060) to make sure it goes smoothly. The underground car park has 20 accessible spaces.
What are the key points to remember?
If you are driving to Busan Cinema Center, two things matter: validate your ticket for the 4 free hours, and check for a congestion notice.
- Haneul Theater ticket holders park free for 4 hours after validating their ticket; beyond that it is 1,000 won per 30 minutes, card only.
- Days that overlap with a holiday or a Roof Theater event drew five full-car-park notices in 2026 alone, so the 5-minute walk from exit 12 or 6 of Centum City Station is the safer bet.
- Haneul Theater's 841 seats match its KOPIS registration; the OP and box seats have restricted views and cannot be exchanged or refunded for that reason, so check before you book.
Checked in October 2026 against Busan Cinema Center's parking page, directions, FAQ, notice board, facilities page and accessibility guide, and against the venue's KOPIS registration. Upcoming shows and the other halls are on our Busan Cinema Center venue page.
