Daehakro TOM Hall 1 and Hall 2 seat views and parking: rows D–E, section C, and a 30% car park discount (checked November 2026)
In Daehakro TOM Hall 1 (335 seats, B1–B2), rows D and E are the seats audiences rate best; in Hall 2 (220 seats, B3), where seating wraps a near-floor-level thrust stage, front section C is the safe choice. The building's parking tower is tiny and gives no ticket discount, so drivers do best at the KNOU public car park nearby: ₩400 per 5 minutes, with 30% off for Daehak-ro theatre-goers.

Daehakro TOM (대학로 TOM, pronounced "tee-oh-em") is a two-theatre building at 85 Daehak-ro 8ga-gil, Dongsung-dong, Jongno-gu, in Seoul's Daehak-ro theatre district. KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, lists it as 티오엠씨어터 (formerly 문화공간필링) and gives 2014 as its opening year. For this guide we checked TOM's own hall pages, FAQ and directions page against the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation's public parking sheet, Korea National Open University's parking page, and the venue's KOPIS registration. All figures were checked in November 2026.
What is the difference between TOM Hall 1 and Hall 2?
Daehakro TOM Hall 1 is a 335-seat theatre with a conventional front-facing stage on basement levels 1–2. Hall 2 is a 220-seat theatre on basement level 3, where the seating wraps around a thrust stage on three sides. They share a building, but the best seats are completely different. The seat counts and stage dimensions on TOM's own hall pages match KOPIS exactly.
| Hall 1 | Hall 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Level | B1–B2 | B3 |
| Seats | 335 (KOPIS also lists 2 wheelchair spaces) | 220 |
| Stage | Front-facing, 11.4 m wide, 6 m high, 8 m deep | Thrust, 13 m wide, 3.5 m high, 5.5 m deep |
| Facilities | Box office, dressing rooms | Dressing rooms |

The above-ground floors are rehearsal rooms and studios, not theatres. TOM's facility pages list the box office under Hall 1 only. For a Hall 2 show, collect your ticket on B1 and then walk down to B3, so allow a few extra minutes.
Which rows are best in TOM Hall 1?
Rows D and E are the seats audiences recommend most in Daehakro TOM Hall 1. They are close to the stage, and the rake starts to lift from row D, so heads in front stop getting in the way. Rows F–H show the whole stage comfortably. Row L is repeatedly reported as blocked by the row in front.
Hall 1 is a single raked tier of rows A to R. Adding up the seats per row on a seat-view sharing service's chart gives 335, which matches the official count.

| Rows | What reviews keep saying |
|---|---|
| A–C | Right at the stage. The rake is shallow, so your view depends on who sits in front |
| D–E | Where the rake kicks in. Most often called the best seats |
| F–H | Row F has extra legroom. The whole stage fits in view |
| I–K | Either side of the cross aisle between J and K. Reliably fine |
| L | Almost no step up from K, so the row in front can block the stage |
| M–R | Steeper downward angle. Some reviewers suggest opera glasses |
Rows A–E run 19–20 seats across with no aisle. From row F, side aisles split the house into blocks.

The centre block faces the stage square-on, while the side blocks see it at a slight angle. Price tiers vary by production.
Where should I sit in TOM Hall 2?
The front-facing C section is the safest choice in Daehakro TOM Hall 2. The stage is almost level with the floor, and the seating rises in tiers around it on three sides. If a show has a lot of sitting or lying on the floor, rows 4–6 of section C sit high enough not to lose it.

TOM's Hall 2 page states that row 1 of sections B, C and D is movable seating. Depending on the production, row 1 may be removed or moved, so check that show's seat map before booking it.

Sources disagree on the seat count. TOM's own page and KOPIS both say 220. A seat-view sharing service's chart shows 101 seats in section C (rows 1–6) and 64 each in sections B and D (rows 1–7), which comes to 229. With the 12-seat A and E sections beside the stage, it comes to 253. Because row 1 is movable, the layout appears to change with each production, so go by the seat map on the booking page.
| Section | What to expect |
|---|---|
| C (front) | The whole stage, straight on. First choice for a first visit |
| Row 1 (B, C, D) | Movable seats at the actors' eye level. Immersive, possibly too close |
| Rows 2–3 | Some reviewers find the step between rows too small |
| Rows 4–6 | A little further back, but the hall is small and floor action is easier to see |
| B and D (sides) | The stage is 13 m wide, so you turn your head for the far end |

Is there parking at Daehakro TOM?
Daehakro TOM has a paid parking tower in the building, but TOM's own FAQ says spaces are very limited and tickets do not get a parking discount. The venue recommends public transport. If you drive, the two alternatives are the on-street public car park on the same street, Daehak-ro 8ga-gil, and the public car park inside the Korea National Open University (KNOU) campus.

| Car park | Rate and hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| TOM building parking tower | Paid | Very limited; no ticket discount |
| Daehak-ro 8ga-gil on-street car park | ₩500 per 5 min, 10:00–21:00 daily | In front of 119 Daehak-ro 8ga-gil, 11 spaces |
| KNOU public car park (86 Daehak-ro) | Free up to 5 min, then ₩400 per 5 min, 24 hours | 30% discount for Daehak-ro culture venue visitors; no vehicles 2.1 m or taller |
The on-street car park's rate, space count and hours match the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation's public parking sheet. It closes at 21:00, and evening shows often finish later. The corporation states that time parked outside operating hours is not charged.
The KNOU car park is run for the university by the same corporation. KNOU's parking page lists a 30% discount for Daehak-ro culture venue visitors: it covers vehicles visiting a venue that day, the venue applies it in the parking system, and it lasts six hours from entry. After paying at the machine, you have 15 minutes to leave at no extra charge. Whether a particular production registers cars for the discount varies, so ask at the box office or merchandise desk first.
Using the official rates, three hours costs roughly:
- Daehak-ro 8ga-gil on-street car park: about ₩18,000
- KNOU car park: about ₩14,000, or about ₩9,800 with the 30% discount
The KNOU car park also gives 80% off for national merit holders and disabled drivers and 50% off for compact and low-emission cars. Discounts do not stack; only the highest applies. Reviewers say it fills up quickly on weekend afternoons. For parking questions, call the corporation's parking team on 02-6048-1234.
How do I get to Daehakro TOM from Hyehwa Station?
Daehakro TOM is a two-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station on Seoul Subway Line 4, according to TOM's directions page. The official map also shows a route from Exit 1. A taxi driver needs only the address: 대학로8가길 85.
- Subway: Line 4 Hyehwa Station, Exit 2, 2 minutes on foot
- Buses (per the official map): 100, 102, 104, 106, 107, 140, 143, 150, 273, 301, 710, 2112, 6011, and local buses Jongno 03, 07, 08 and 12 and Seongbuk 01 and 02
- Main number: 1544-8303
Hall 2 is three floors down, so arriving about 20 minutes before curtain leaves time for the box office and the toilets.
Can I bring drinks or flowers into Daehakro TOM?
Daehakro TOM's official FAQ says no food or drink of any kind, beverages included, is allowed in the auditorium. Bouquets can be left at the box office or the merchandise desk before you go in. Photography and audio or video recording are banned unless permitted in advance.
Once a show starts, you cannot move to another seat, even an empty one. Latecomers' entry is restricted. Depending on the production, staff may seat you in a designated seat or standing area, and you can return to your own seat after the interval.
Is Daehakro TOM wheelchair accessible?
KOPIS lists two wheelchair spaces in Daehakro TOM's Hall 1 and none registered for Hall 2. The same registration marks accessible parking, toilets, ramps and lifts all as "not available". If you use a wheelchair, call 1544-8303 before booking to confirm the route and the seat.
In short
- In Daehakro TOM Hall 1 (B1–B2, 335 seats), look at rows D–E and F–H first; row L can be blocked by the row in front.
- In Hall 2 (B3, 220 seats), start from front section C. Row 1 of sections B, C and D is movable, so check each show's seat map.
- The building's parking tower is tiny and gives no discount. If you drive, use the KNOU car park (₩400 per 5 minutes) and ask the box office whether they register cars for the 30% Daehak-ro culture discount.
Checked in November 2026 against Daehakro TOM's official Hall 1 and Hall 2 pages, FAQ and directions, the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation's public parking information, Korea National Open University's campus parking page, and the venue's KOPIS registration. Layouts and rates change, so call Daehakro TOM on 1544-8303 before you go.
