Everything below was checked on 17 September 2026 against the Changwon Citizens' Safety Center website (guide, booking and FAQ pages) and the Changwon Science Center official website (admission and facilities pages), and compared with the KOPIS registration on the 창원과학체험관 venue page. The two institutions share one building at 16 Chunghon-ro 72beon-gil, Seongsan-gu, Changwon.

Where do I book the 119 safety experience at Changwon Science Center?

The 119 safety course (fire extinguisher, smoke escape, CPR, vehicle rollover and more) is booked on the Changwon Citizens' Safety Center website under 예약안내 → 체험예약, not on the Science Center site. It is free. The Safety Center is a separate organisation occupying the 3rd floor of the Science Center building, so the name, phone number and booking desk are all different.

On the day, check in at the Science Center's B1 information desk, where staff confirm the booking list before you go up to the 3rd floor. If you only use the Safety Center there is no admission fee. The Science Center exhibition halls (B1 to 2F) need no reservation for individuals; buy a ticket at the B1 machines.

Both open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00~18:00 with last entry at 17:00. Both close on Mondays (if Monday is a public holiday they open and close the next day), on 1 January, and at Seollal and Chuseok. The Safety Center closes for the whole Seollal and Chuseok holiday period, while the Science Center closes only on the day itself.

How far ahead do bookings open, and until when can I cancel?

Online booking opens 30 days before the visit and closes at 16:00 the day before. The Safety Center FAQ states this as "30 days before until 1 day before (16:00)". Confirmations, cancellations and headcount changes are handled under 예약안내 → 체험예약확인 after mobile identity verification, and you can only add people if the session still has capacity.

  • Online booking opens: 30 days before the visit
  • Online booking closes: 16:00 the day before
  • Walk-ins: only for same-day cancellations, if capacity remains
  • Groups (schools, companies): by phone, 055-548-9456, booked in bulk by the centre
  • Inclusion programme (people with disabilities, seniors, multicultural families): Wednesdays, by phone

For a popular slot, log in exactly 30 days ahead. The official guide also warns that a course with fewer than 5 participants may be moved to another time or cancelled.

How many courses are there and when do sessions run?

There are three courses, A, B and C, and only one course can be taken per time slot. If capacity allows, you can book consecutive sessions, for example Course A in the morning and Course C in the afternoon. The table is from the Safety Center's guide page.

Weekend Course C has a single 13:30 session for 16 people, so it fills first. Families with children under 7 can add the 119 play zone, limited to 20 people per session.

What is the minimum age, and which conditions are easy to miss?

Children born in 2020 or earlier (age 6 and up) can take part. The official notice says children born 2021~2026 should come another time, so there is no exception even with a parent. Older web pages saying "7 and up" or "book through the city's integrated reservation portal" are out of date.

  1. Guardians count toward the booking. Children in primary grade 3 or below must be accompanied; from grade 4 they can take the course alone.
  2. Children under 130 cm, pregnant visitors and the elderly may be excluded from some modules such as escape equipment and the rollover car. Instructors may allow it with a guardian's consent.
  3. Wear comfortable clothes and trainers. Skirts, dress shoes and slippers restrict some activities.
  4. No eating inside. Packed lunches can be eaten on the outdoor benches or in front of the outdoor stage.
  5. The Safety Center does not lend strollers or wheelchairs; for a wheelchair it refers you to the Science Center on the lower floors.
  6. Lost property is kept at the Safety Center entrance desk (055-548-9459) for 14 days; valuables go to the police.

How many parking spaces are there, and where do coaches park?

The Science Center's official facilities page lists 89 general spaces, 4 accessible spaces, 5 EV spaces and 1 veteran space. Coaches have no dedicated bays and are directed to the roadside in front of the main gate, and the page adds that parking violations are fined.

On weekends and school holidays 89 spaces is not a lot. For a 10:30 session, arriving around 10:00 is safer, and parking questions go to the Science Center at 055-267-2676. The official site publishes no parking fee schedule.

By public transport, the nearest stops are 창원종합운동장 (Changwon Sports Complex) and 창원문성대·충혼탑. The two websites list slightly different bus routes, so confirm in a map app. By car, from Busan take the Namhae Expressway to Jangyu IC and the Changwon Tunnel; from Gwangju or Jinju take the Namhae Expressway to Bukchangwon IC.

What does the Science Center charge, and who gets in free?

The 3rd-floor safety course is free, but the Science Center exhibition halls charge admission. Preschool children are exempt from the exhibition fee but pay the child rate for the cinemas.

Exhibition admission is waived for national merit holders, independence and war veterans, basic livelihood recipients, people with disabilities (grades 1~3 with one carer), visitors aged 65 and over, parents of two or more children with those children (ordinance of 1 January 2023), single-parent families, Changwon multicultural families, preschoolers and group leaders. There is no free admission to the 4D cinema or planetarium, and ages are counted the Korean legal way. Free visitors still need to print a free ticket at the machine, so bring proof.

Group rates apply from 20 people, and groups arriving without a reservation are not admitted. Groups can book by phone (055-267-2676) up to 3 months ahead. Children under 100 cm cannot enter the 4D cinema.

What does KOPIS record for Changwon Science Center?

The 창원과학체험관 venue page shows a 160-seat multipurpose hall, a 20-seat lecture room and an outdoor book cafe, 180 seats in total. The Citizens' Safety Center is not a performance venue and has no KOPIS record, so all the 119 course details here come from its own website. If you are visiting for a talk or show in the multipurpose hall, the same 89-space car park applies.

What are the three things to remember?

  1. Book the 119 course on the Citizens' Safety Center site (cwsafe119.or.kr), from 30 days before until 16:00 the day before, free of charge.
  2. Children born in 2020 or earlier can join; book guardians as part of the headcount and check in at the Science Center's B1 desk.
  3. Parking is 89 general spaces plus 4 accessible, 5 EV and 1 veteran space; coaches use the roadside by the main gate.

Verified on 17 September 2026 against the Changwon Citizens' Safety Center website and the Changwon Science Center official website. Sessions and fees change, so confirm with the Safety Center (055-548-9453) or the Science Center (055-267-2676) before you go.
