COEX Hall D and Auditorium: seat views, parking and which gate to drive in through

The first question after getting a ticket for a concert or musical at COEX is usually whether the seat is any good. The answer depends entirely on which venue name is printed on the ticket.

Is my COEX show in Hall D or the Auditorium?

Concerts and musicals at COEX happen in two spaces, Exhibition Hall D and the Auditorium, and both sit side by side on the third floor. They are opposites. The Auditorium has 1,080 fixed theatre seats, so the seating chart alone tells you most of what you need. Hall D is a flat, column-free exhibition hall where the stage and seating are built from scratch for each show.

So searching for "COEX seat view" gets you different information depending on which of the two your ticket names.

What is Exhibition Hall D like, and how do you predict the view?

What decides the view in Hall D is not the block name but the floor height. All 7,281㎡ is column-free, so nothing structural blocks the stage, but the floor is flat and epoxy-finished, which means whether the head in front of you covers the bottom of the stage is what decides how good the seat feels.

Hall D is used whole or split into D1 and D2. A ticket that says Hall D1 means a show using half the hall, which shortens the distance from the stage to the back row.

D1 and D2 have their own main entrances marked, so knowing which half a show uses tells you roughly which door you will be sent to. The 720㎡ Swing Space is used flexibly as exhibition space, stage, cafeteria or storage, and sometimes opens as a merchandise area or a queueing space.

One caveat matters. COEX's own facility page prints a note under that table: capacity varies with how the event is built, including whether a stage is used and at what size, and the figures are for reference only. The 7,000 is a maximum with seating only and no stage, and a real concert loses a great deal of it to the stage, the sound console and the aisles.

Layouts differ per show, so no one can promise a good row. But the flat floor and the movable stage produce some constants. Check for risers before you check the price grade: large shows often build a stand at the back, and a block on a riser sees over the crowd while a flat block at the back does not. Remember the 81m width too. With D1 and D2 together, the distance from the stage to the far side seats is considerable, and the outer side blocks end up watching the stage at an angle. The 17.5m ceiling is an advantage, since screens and lighting trusses hang high enough to stay visible from the back.

How do you read the COEX Auditorium seating chart?

The Auditorium chart has a front block of six sections, A, B, C, D, E and F, and a rear block of seven, G, H, J, K, L, M and N. The letter I is not used. There are eight doors, GATE 1 to 8: as the chart is drawn, GATEs 6, 7 and 8 are on the left, 2, 3 and 4 on the right, and 1 and 5 at the rear centre.

There is one more rule here that is genuinely useful when booking. Enlarge the official COEX seating chart and the seat numbers run continuously across rows within a section. In section A the front row is 1 to 7, the next is 8 to 14, and so on backwards until the numbers reach the high nineties. Sections B, C and D work the same way.

So the number on an Auditorium ticket is not a row, it is a running number within the section, and within the same section a lower number is closer to the stage. That means you can judge how far back you are even when a booking screen shows only a seat number and no row.

The plan reveals something else. The COEX plan updated in September 2026 labels the meeting rooms beside the bowl 1A, 1B and 1C on the left and 2A, 2B and 2C on the right, while the specification table on the same page still lists them as R1 to R4. Signage on the day may not match what your booking confirmation says.

Four coat rooms are on the third floor too. The plan puts them to either side of the bowl and part-way along the left, which is handy for a winter show.

Which blocks have the best view in the COEX Auditorium?

A 20m × 6m LED screen fills the width of the stage and the seating rises in a gentle fan, so the stage stays visible from the back rows. Two 240-inch side screens compensate for the side blocks. The stage measures 12m wide by 24m deep by 11m high.

Of the seven rear sections, only K faces dead centre stage, with J and L flanking it. In the front block, C and D are the centre line.

At 11m the stage is high enough that front rows still see what is on it. The very first row can mean tilting your head back, though.

How much is parking at COEX, and what discounts are there?

A passenger car pays 1,500 won per 15 minutes, so 6,000 won an hour, with a daily rate of 60,000 won. Leave within 20 minutes of entering and the charge is waived as Grace Time, which also applies after paying at a self-service machine before exiting. Go over 20 minutes and the normal charge applies, including those 20 minutes.

A two to three hour show therefore costs 12,000 to 18,000 won in parking alone, which is reason enough to line up a discount first. The conditions on the COEX parking fee page are these.

Two practical points. First, the only performance ticket that earns a parking discount is a COEX Artium one; there is no published parking discount for a Hall D or Auditorium show. If you are eating or shopping in COEX Mall around the show, the receipt discount is far better value. It counts only purchases made after you enter, and once the automatic payment completes at the exit it cannot be applied retrospectively, so plan the order of your evening.

Second, the daytime and overnight split on the Megabox discount is judged by the film's finish time as printed on the ticket, not by when you entered or left. That matters for a late screening.

For electric vehicles, the rooftop car park (RF) has six rapid chargers (Happy Charger) and 47 slow chargers (EverOn). Parking enquiries go to the parking customer service centre on 1F towards the east gate, behind the Devil's Door restaurant, open 09:00–19:00 and 10:00–19:00 at weekends and on holidays, on 02-6002-7130, or to the on-site support office in zone 44N on B2, on 02-6000-7514.

Which gate should I drive in through for a show at COEX?

Here is something rarely noticed. COEX's own car park entrance guide gives different entrances for the Auditorium and for Hall D. Choose the Auditorium as your destination and the map highlights the COEX north gate alone; choose exhibition halls B and D and it highlights two, the COEX north gate and the ASEM Tower gate. Both are third-floor venues, and the guidance still differs.

In short, for a third-floor venue the shortest route is in through the north gate and down to B3 or B4. If COEX Mall is part of the plan before or after the show, B2 is more convenient. The COEX site also publishes a full-capacity forecast and live congestion level based on Kakao T data, which is worth a look before setting off on a big show day.

What are the P numbers in the COEX car park and why do they matter?

Each floor of the COEX car park marks its lifts and escalators with a P number from P1 to P9, and each P number leads somewhere different. One set goes up to the exhibition and convention centre lobby, another connects to Starfield COEX Mall, and another to ASEM Tower and Trade Tower. For a third-floor venue, look for the P numbers marked towards the convention centre lobby.

Because the same P numbers repeat across floors, note the floor together with the P number when you leave the car.

Where is the COEX luggage storage?

There are two luggage stores, both on the first floor: in front of the up escalator beside the Shinhan Bank branch at Hall A, and in front of the up and down escalators beside the Hall B information desk. Both sit on the first-floor exhibition line, which makes them easy to use on the way up to a third-floor venue.

For an Auditorium show, the four third-floor coat rooms are available too. On a day with a lot of merchandise and a heavy coat, bags can go in the first-floor store and the coat in a third-floor coat room.

What amenities are near the COEX performance halls?

The main information desk is at the east gate on the first floor, and besides exhibition and facility information it offers interpretation help, phone charging, and child-safety wristbands. Phone charging is the one people tend not to know about, and it helps on a day with a long wait before doors.

Two more things you will only look for once you are on the third floor. Defibrillators on the third floor are at the convention support centre and in Hall D. On the first floor they are at the west gate safety office and in front of the Hall B information desk, on the second at the convention support centre, and on the fourth at the ICT education centre. Accessible toilets on the third floor are on the east and west sides of the Auditorium, in front of room 303 in the exhibition building, and at Hall E. There is no need to go back down to the first floor.

Which station is closest to the COEX performance halls?

Hall D and the Auditorium are closest to the north gate, so Line 9 to Bongeunsa station, Exit 7, which connects directly into ASEM Plaza, is the shortest route up to the third floor. The COEX directions page lists three subway lines.

Line 7 at Cheongdam is the option few people think of, and it is a useful alternative when Samseong on Line 2 is crushed after a show. By bus, the COEX east gate stop (23198) is served by the 6006 airport limousine; the COEX Artium stop is 23199 and the Grand InterContinental stop by Samseong Exit 5 is 23201.

In short

1. Start with the venue name on the ticket. For the Auditorium, the official chart and its blocks (A–F, G–N) are enough, and within a block a lower seat number is further forward. For Hall D you have to find the promoter's chart for that specific show.
2. COEX's own guide sends Auditorium traffic to the north gate alone and Hall D traffic to the north gate or the ASEM Tower gate. For a third-floor venue, in at the north gate and down to B3 or B4 is the shortest route.
3. Plan the discount before you drive in. Hall D and Auditorium tickets carry no parking discount, and the COEX Mall receipt discount counts only purchases made after entry and cannot be applied once the exit payment has gone through.
