One figure is widely repeated and wrong. The Daehak-ro 8-gagil public car park is quoted in many guides at 500 won per five minutes, but the official facility table published by the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation gives 600 won per five minutes — 7,200 won an hour, which is dearer than the university car park.

The opening hours matter more. The Daehak-ro 8-gagil car park operates only from 10:00 to 21:00 and has just 11 spaces. Evening plays in Daehangno typically begin at 20:00 and finish around 21:40, so this car park shuts before the performance ends. For an evening show it is effectively unusable.

The university car park has a height limit: vehicles taller than 2.1 m cannot enter, so check first if you drive a large SUV or a van. After paying at the machine you have 15 minutes to leave before further charges begin.

The Naksan Park car park is the cheapest at 150 won per five minutes, but it sits up a hill and the walk is real work. It does not appear on the Jongno-gu Facilities Management Corporation's list of public car parks, so its rate and hours here are taken from publicly available information as of September 2026 rather than from the operator's own table. Check the signage on site before relying on it.

Can I actually get the university parking discount?

The scheme exists, but the theatre has to apply it. The Korea National Open University's official notice states a 30% discount for users of Daehangno cultural venues, valid for six hours from entry. The discount is not applied by the car park on its own: the cultural venue has to enter it in the system.

So whether you get it depends on whether the theatre is registered for the scheme and whether staff process it on the night. The stage is 10 m wide and the rows run from A to G, so even the back row is physically close to the stage. The remoteness you feel from the back of an upper circle in a large musical house does not arise here.

Rows A and B are close enough to read the performers' faces, but the stage sits above the seats, so you look upward throughout. Rows F and G at the back have more legroom between rows.
