당진문예의전당 (Dangjin Arts Center) is the Dangjin Cultural Foundation's theatre at 25-21 Musu-dong 2-gil, Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, opened on 31 May 2005. It has a 1,001-seat main hall, a 300-seat small hall and an outdoor stage for about 100. We checked the centre's seating, booking and facility pages and February 2026 local press coverage on 2 October 2026, and compared them with public.ai.kr's KOPIS venue data.

How many seats are in the Dangjin Arts Center halls?
The Dangjin Arts Center main hall has 1,001 seats and the small hall has 300. The official seating page breaks the main hall into 639 ground-floor seats, 306 balcony seats, 44 restricted-view seats and 12 wheelchair spaces, which add up to exactly 1,001.
| Main hall | Small hall | Outdoor stage | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seats | 1,001 | 300 | about 100 |
| Wheelchair | 12 (included) | 4 (included) | - |
| Stage | 273 m² (17 m × 15 m) | 11 m × 7.4 m | Thrust stage on a lawn |
KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, lists the same 1,001, 300 and 100, matching the official figures exactly.
Where are the 44 restricted-view seats in the main hall?
All 44 restricted-view seats are on the ground floor. Counting the balcony block by block on the official chart gives 55 + 56 + 84 + 56 + 55 = 306, exactly the official "306 balcony seats", which leaves none of the restricted seats upstairs. The chart image does not mark which ground-floor seats they are, so check the seat grade on the booking screen before taking an end block downstairs.

How is the main hall laid out?
The main hall has rows 1–18 on the ground floor and rows 1–7 in the balcony, both split into five blocks labelled 가, 나, 다, 라 and 마 from left to right. The centre block 다 is widest at 12 seats a row, and a cross aisle runs between rows 7 and 8 downstairs.
| Section | Layout | Doors |
|---|---|---|
| Ground floor, front | Rows 1–7, five blocks | Left and right by the stage |
| Ground floor, rear | Rows 8–18, sound booth behind row 17 centre | G3/G4 (sides), G1/G2 (rear) |
| Balcony | Rows 1–7, five blocks | G5/G6 (front sides), G7/G8 (rear) |
| Wheelchair | Row 7 block 라 W1–W5, row 18 W6–W12 | - |

Reading the chart:
- Rows 1–7 of centre block 다 are closest to the stage, the pick for plays and musicals where faces matter.
- Row 8 sits right behind the cross aisle, so nobody is directly in front and it is easy to get in and out.
- Row 17 of block 다 loses its middle to the sound booth and keeps only three seats each side. For the centre, stay at row 16 or forward.
- The balcony is only seven rows deep, so every row looks down on the whole stage — good for dance.

Seat grades (R, S and so on) and prices change with each show, because the promoter decides how the hall is divided. Check the grade map on the booking screen.
How is the 300-seat small hall laid out?
The Dangjin Arts Center small hall has three blocks, 가, 나 and 다, in rows 1–13, with 100 seats in each block on the chart. Blocks 가 and 다 have 5 seats in row 1, 7 in row 2 and 8 in each of rows 3–13; block 나 has 8 seats in each of rows 1–12 plus wheelchair spaces W1–W4 in row 13. With only 13 rows, no seat is far from the stage.

How big is the car park, and will there be space on show day?
The Dangjin Arts Center car park has 127 spaces, including accessible bays. Against a 1,001-seat main hall, even two people per car brings in only about 254 people — a quarter of a full house — so a busy main-hall night is tight.

| Item | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Spaces | 127 (accessible bays included) | City council remarks, Feb 2026 press |
| Fee | Free for ticket holders | Korea Tourism Organization listing |
| Opens on show day | 2 hours before curtain | Korea Tourism Organization listing |
| Other vehicles barred | From 6 p.m. the day before | Venue staff quoted in Feb 2026 press |
Attendance is rising and the car park is not. Dangjin Sinmun reported on 3 February 2026 that visitors grew 51% from 73,000 in 2024 to 110,000 in 2025, as a city councillor called for a parking tower; a city official answered that no concrete plan existed. Dongyang Ilbo on 8 February 2026 noted the shortage was first raised 14 years earlier. We found no news of added parking as of October 2026.
What time should I arrive to get a parking space?
For a main-hall show, aim to arrive between the car park opening two hours before curtain and the start of ticket collection 90 minutes before. Arriving in that window gives you the best chance of a space and lets you collect tickets in one trip.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| 6 p.m. the day before | Other vehicles barred from the car park |
| 2 hours before | Car park opens |
| 90 minutes before | Box office starts handing out booked tickets |
| 90–60 minutes before | Remaining seats sold at the door (varies by show) |
If the car park is full, try the 19-space public car park beside the arts center. It is small, so treat it as a backup; roadside parking around the venue is criticised after every busy show for pedestrian safety, so sharing a car, a taxi or a city bus is the safer plan.
