Ewha Samsung Hall parking and seat views: the rear gate, the B5–B6 garage and a 702-seat single tier (2026)

Samsung Hall sits four levels underground in the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, a single 702-seat mid-size theatre that opened in 2010. There is only one auditorium, so there is no hall to pick — but there is a gate to pick, and choosing the wrong one can leave you unable to drive in at all. The figures below were checked against Samsung Hall's own site and Ewha's official campus parking pages in September 2026.

Which gate do I drive in through for Samsung Hall?

The rear gate (후문). Samsung Hall's own guidance is blunt about it: the main and west gates are controlled by day and time, so visitors are told to use the rear gate without exception. Ewha's parking page shows why — only the rear gate is open around the clock, and the other two close entirely on Sundays and public holidays.

For a weekend evening performance there is effectively one option. Set your navigation to 이화여자대학교 후문 주차장 or 이화여자대학교 ECC 주차장 후문.

Two limits to know. The rear gate garage takes vehicles up to 2.1 m tall only, so measure first if you drive an SUV with a roof box. And the main gate admits only passenger cars, vans of 15 seats or fewer and trucks up to 1.5 tonnes — anything larger has to use the rear gate anyway.

How far is the walk from the car park to the hall?

You never come up to ground level. Once through the rear gate, follow the ECC 주차장 signs painted on the road and bear right: parking is Zone A on basement level 5 and Zone F on basement level 6, and one level up, on basement level 4, is the Samsung Hall lobby. Interpark's venue page is more specific still — take lift 5 or lift 6.

The ECC garage holds 750 spaces across levels B5 and B6. It is not Samsung Hall's own car park; the whole campus shares it.

The parking office is on basement level 5, directly below the Starbucks and Samsung Hall area — the nearest place to sort out a fare or a discount on the day.

How much does parking cost at Samsung Hall?

The standard rate starts at 1,000 KRW for up to 15 minutes and 2,000 KRW for up to 30.

Worked through, that table comes to 6,500 KRW at exactly two hours. Allow for getting in and out around the running time and a realistic stay costs 12,500 KRW for three hours and 18,500 KRW for four. The per-10-minute rate doubles the moment you pass two hours, so anything with an interval runs well past 10,000 KRW at the standard rate.

How do I get the performance-goer parking discount?

Register your plate at the cloakroom (물품보관소) on your way in. Samsung Hall's guidance says only that you register the number at the cloakroom and then pay by card at the payment booth on the way out — it does not publish the discounted amount. Interpark's venue page states that same-day ticket holders can buy a parking voucher for 5,000 KRW, but terms can vary by production, so confirm at the cloakroom rather than assuming.

Some drivers pay nothing at all. Under Ewha's official parking rules, pregnant drivers and disabled drivers are exempt from the fee and may park at ground level; disabled drivers apply with a disability card or a general-hospital certificate.

What time do I have to be out by if the show runs late?

23:30 on the day of the performance. Samsung Hall asks visitors to complete their exit through the rear gate before 23:30, and the garage building closes at midnight — after that you cannot get the car out at all. Plan against that time if the curtain call is likely to run long, and remember the exit is the rear gate, not the main one.

Does Samsung Hall have a balcony or second level?

No — the entire auditorium is a single tier. The hall's official description explains that the proscenium stage was brought close to the seating for immediacy, and that the single-tier seating rises 30 cm per row, which it presents as giving an unobstructed view from anywhere. In other words there is no balcony, just one gently raked block facing the stage.

On the official seating plan the rows are lettered (B, C, D and so on) and seats are numbered from 1 within each row.

Where are the best seats at Samsung Hall?

The centre block, square on to the stage, is the safest choice. Being single-tier removes the "stuck upstairs" problem, but the flip side is that 30 cm per row is a shallow rise. A tall person in front of you can matter here in a way it does not in a theatre with a raked balcony.

• Centre block: square on to the stage, and the steadiest sightline in the house.
• Front rows: closest to the action, but for a show with a high stage you will be looking up, and the shallow rise makes that angle harder rather than easier.
• Side blocks: an oblique view of the stage, so depending on the set one edge can be cut off.

How much the grades actually differ depends on each production's set, so this is not something to settle in advance. Check the official seating plan alongside the production's own grade map before you book.

How many wheelchair spaces does Samsung Hall have?

The two sources disagree, and both are official. Samsung Hall's own site gives "702 seats (8 wheelchair)", while the figure registered with KOPIS, Korea's performing-arts data network, is 6 wheelchair spaces. The 702 total matches exactly.

This site's venue page takes KOPIS as its source, so it shows 6. How many are actually released for sale varies by production — check the seat map at your ticket agent.

On accessibility, the KOPIS record lists accessible parking bays, an accessible toilet, a ramp and a lift as all present. As above, disabled drivers are exempt from the parking fee and may park at ground level.

What about the subway and buses?

Ewha Womans University station on Line 2, exits 2 and 3. The stated walking distance differs by source: Samsung Hall's own page says 300 metres straight ahead from those exits, while Interpark's venue page says about 200 metres to the university's main gate. Either way it is under five minutes — but note that the 200–300 m figure is to the main gate, and Samsung Hall is four levels below ground inside the ECC, so there is more campus to cross once you are in.

Bus coverage is good. Samsung Hall's own listing alone names 12 express routes (1000, 1004, 1100, 1101, 1200, 1300, 1301, 1302, 1601, M7111, M7119, 7200), 22 trunk routes and 7 branch routes, plus airport buses 6002 and 6011.
