HD Arts Center Seating and Parking: 964 Seats in the Main Hall, 218 in the Small Hall

HD아트센터 (HD Arts Center), in the Dong-gu district of Ulsan, runs two halls: a 대공연장 (main hall) and a 소공연장 (small hall). The three things people check before booking — seat counts, seat maps and parking rates — sit on different pages of the venue's own site, and some of the numbers disagree. This guide reconciles them against the official site and the venue's KOPIS registration, as of September 2026.

How many seats does the HD Arts Center main hall have?

The 대공연장 seats 964: 554 on level 1 and 410 on level 2. Level 1 is split into blocks A, B and C across rows 1–18; level 2 into blocks D, E and F across rows 1–14. Counting the seats block by block on the official seat map gives exactly 554 and 410, matching the figures the venue publishes.

This is where the sources disagree. The venue's KOPIS facility registration records the main hall as 962 seats, two fewer than the 964 on the venue's own site. Counting the seat map yields 964, which is the figure the booking screen reflects. Both sources agree on the small hall's 218.

Level 1 has gates A, B, C and D; level 2 has gates E and F. A cross aisle separates rows 1–7 from rows 8–18 on level 1, and on the seat map gates A and D sit at either end of that aisle while gates B and C are at the back of the hall. Check the block and row on your ticket first and pick the nearest gate, and you will not have to cross the seating to reach your seat.

Wheelchair positions are marked at the rear of block C on level 1 — seats 8 and 9 in row 17 and seats 1 to 8 in row 18, ten places in all. The venue's own seating notes for the main hall do not describe them, so it is worth confirming a wheelchair booking on 1522-3331.

How many seats does the small hall have, and where are the wheelchair spaces?

The 소공연장 seats 218, and the two wheelchair spaces are H16 and H17. The stage is 1.5 metres from the front row and the seating is only about 10 metres deep, so every row is close to the performers. Rows run V nearest the stage, then A through L — thirteen in all — and the two gates, A and B, are both at the back.

This is why the small hall is described as both 220 seats and 218. The venue's own page introduces the hall as "220석" and then, further down, states "218석(휠체어석 미포함)" — 218 seats, wheelchair spaces excluded. The seat map draws 220 places, of which H16 and H17 are the wheelchair spaces, so 218 plus 2 is the same count stated two ways. The KOPIS registration agrees: 218 seats and 2 wheelchair spaces.

How much does parking cost at HD Arts Center?

The first 30 minutes are free, then it is 500 won per 30 minutes, capped at 17,500 won a day. The car park is open 06:00–24:00; you cannot enter or leave between 24:00 and 06:00. Payment is by credit card only.

What you get free depends on why you came. The table below sets out the venue's own FAQ entry on parking.

Performance-goers get no multi-hour free allowance. Unlike cinema and on-site customers with their three free hours, ticket holders are given only the first 30 minutes free plus the hour of automatic exit after the show. For a long running time, budget for the 30-minute increments. If you used 신한은행, IM증권 or 제니스여성병원, collect the parking voucher from that business rather than at the venue.

Worth noting: the venue's site states the rate two different ways. The directions page lists only "500 won per 30 minutes, 17,500 won maximum per day" and never mentions the free first half hour, while the FAQ spells out the full condition. This guide follows the FAQ, which is the more complete of the two.

The car park spans basement levels 1 to 3 across buildings A, B and C.

Which floors are the two halls on?

The 대공연장 is on level 2 of building B; the 소공연장 is on basement level 1 of building A. They are in one complex but different buildings and floors, which makes the entrance easy to get wrong.

The KOPIS facility record registers accessible parking bays, an accessible toilet, a lift, a nursing room, a play room, a restaurant and a cafe. Cafe Bezzly Pub is on level 1 of building B, the same floor as the lobby.

How do you get to HD Arts Center by bus?

Get off at the 현대중공업 울산대학교병원 stop. The address is 울산광역시 동구 명덕로 10 (서부동) and the main number is 1522-3331. Search "HD아트센터" in a navigation app; in a taxi, "울산 동구 현대백화점 옆 HD아트센터" will do it.

Seated route 1421 stops only in the Nammok direction and is absent from the Bangeojin list. Most guides give the seated services as five routes; the venue's own directions page adds 1421 in the Nammok direction.

What kind of performances does HD Arts Center stage?

Musicals and classical music, mostly. Across the 55 productions registered with KOPIS at this venue (run dates from 4 February 2025 to 19 November 2026), 18 are musicals, 14 classical, 10 popular music and 6 plays.

Splitting the same 55 by hall gives 45 in the main hall against 10 in the small hall — more than four to one. Small-hall runs are few enough that their booking windows open briefly, so it is worth watching the HD Arts Center venue page if one interests you.

Is HD Arts Center the same place as 현대예술관?

Yes. It opened on 13 June 1998 as 현대예술관 and was renamed HD아트센터 in April 2025, aligning the name with the HD현대 group. The swimming pool and fitness centre reopened at the same time.

A fair number of write-ups date the rebrand to April 2024, but the venue's own timeline and press coverage from 2 April 2025 both put it in April 2025. Traces of the old name survive: the KOPIS facility record still lists the venue as 'HD아트센터(구 현대예술관)' and gives the old hhiarts.co.kr domain as its website.

The small hall and Cinema 1 and 2 were refurbished and reopened in June 2008. The building won the Korean Architecture Award in its opening year and the Korea Mecenat Award in 2007.

Where do you collect tickets?

At the HD Arts Center information desk, open 09:00–19:00. Each ticketing agent is allocated a different block of seats, so booking early through one agent can still land you at the back. To choose your own seat, book through the HD Arts Center site, where the whole seating plan is visible at once.
