The main hall at Icheon Art Hall (이천아트홀, the Icheon Cultural Foundation's venue beside Icheon City Hall) seats 1,200, a figure that includes a 107-seat orchestra pit and 15 wheelchair spaces. For most shows the centre block B on the ground floor is the safe pick, and the five-row balcony's block E is excellent if you want the whole stage picture. Parking totals 809 spaces across the hall's own car park and three City Hall lots.

This guide cross-checks the Icheon Cultural Foundation's venue page — capacities, seating plans, the car park map — and its booking policy against our KOPIS (Korea's national performing-arts database) records, as of 1 October 2026.

How many seats does Icheon Art Hall have, and how are they split?

Icheon Art Hall has two theatres: a 1,200-seat main hall and a 451-seat studio hall. The main hall's 1,200 is 864 on the ground floor and 214 in the balcony, plus a 107-seat orchestra pit and 15 wheelchair spaces. The studio hall's 451 is 316 on the lower level and 130 on the upper level, plus 5 wheelchair spaces.

HallTotalBreakdownTypical programme
Main hall (대공연장)1,200Ground 864 · balcony 214 · orchestra pit 107 · wheelchair 15Musicals, opera, ballet, drama
Studio hall (소공연장)451Lower level 316 · upper level 130 · wheelchair 5Drama, chamber music, recitals

Both totals add up exactly from the foundation's own per-floor figures. KOPIS lists the same numbers — 1,200 for the main hall and 451 for the studio hall.

The main hall's wheelchair count differs between sources. The venue description and seating plan say 15; the accessibility table on the same page says 12. Counting the symbols on the ground-floor plan gives 15: three in row 11 of block C and twelve across the ends of row 20. If you need a wheelchair space, call the foundation (031-636-2202) before booking to ask how many are on sale.

Which ground-floor block has the best view in the main hall?

Centre block B, roughly rows 5 to 10 just in front of the cross aisle, gives the best balance of whole-stage view and facial detail in Icheon Art Hall's main hall. The ground floor has three blocks (A, B, C) in rows 1 to 20, plus two seats in row 21, with a cross aisle between rows 10 and 11.

The VR views below were all taken from a single point on the ground floor, just facing different ways. They are not per-seat photos, so read them as "this is roughly what mid-stalls looks like".

The side blocks A and C look at the stage at an angle. Front side seats are close but steeply angled; behind row 11 the angle eases but the distance grows. For dance, where the full stage matters, middle-to-rear block B is often more comfortable than the front of the sides.

At the back of the ground floor the balcony overhangs, so the ceiling feels lower. From the VR views, though, it does not cut into the sightline to the stage.

Is the balcony in the main hall worth it?

Yes, for the right show. The main hall balcony at Icheon Art Hall has only five rows across blocks D, E and F, so it never feels far from the stage. Counting the seating plan gives block D 72 seats, E 69 and F 73 — 214 in total, exactly the foundation's balcony figure.

From up here you see the whole stage floor, the lighting and the ensemble formations. For ballet or a large-scale musical, balcony block E can be the more satisfying seat.

Row 1 of the balcony has a rail and a safety bar in front. Depending on your height, it can clip the front edge of the stage — if that bothers you, choose rows 2 or 3.

How should I choose a seat in the main hall?

At Icheon Art Hall's main hall, pick ground-floor block B rows 5–10 for actors' faces and balcony block E rows 2–3 for the full stage picture. The table below is our reading of the official seating plans and VR views; the right seat also depends on the show and the price band.

In the studio hall, is the lower or upper level better?

In Icheon Art Hall's studio hall, sit on the lower level to be close to the performers, and on the upper level to look down on the stage movement. Blocks A, B and C on your ticket are the lower level (316 seats, rows 1–14); D, E and F are the upper level (130 seats, rows 1–5).

The lower level fans around the stage, so even the back rows are much closer than in the main hall. Centre block B around rows 5–10 is head-on at a comfortable distance, and blocks A and C are angled toward the stage.

The upper level is a five-row balcony. Centre block E is wide — 18 to 22 seats a row — and looks down on the stage, so the performers feel further away than from below. There is a wooden rail at the front; think about whether it will sit in your line of sight before choosing row 1.

How much parking is there at Icheon Art Hall?

There are four car parks with 809 spaces in total. The hall's own car park has 339 spaces, and City Hall's staff car park (225) and council car park (59) are marked "available during performances" on the official map. The foundation's "about 800 spaces" matches the sum of the four.

If the hall's own car park is full, the City Hall staff car park (225 spaces) is the largest fallback. The official site does not publish parking charges; call 031-636-2200 before the show to check fees.

Is there a cloakroom or a nursing room?

Yes. Icheon Art Hall does not allow food (other than bottled water) or bouquets in the auditorium, and asks you to leave them at the cloakroom before going in. Foundation notices refer to it as the "ground-floor main hall cloakroom"; its hours are not published.

The nursing room has a children's toilet, a small indoor play area, toys and picture books. Apart from children's and family shows, most performances admit children of school age (8) and up. Doors usually open 30 minutes before curtain; be in your seat at least 10 minutes before.

What accessibility facilities are there?

Icheon Art Hall's car park has 10 accessible bays, and the City Hall public car park next door has 16 more. Accessible toilets are in the ground-floor lobby (two) and on the lower level (one). A lift connects the main hall balcony, the studio hall and the exhibition hall, and there is a platform lift to the studio hall stage.

Disabled visitors get 50% off: registered grades 1–3 plus one companion, and grades 4–6 for the holder only. These tickets can be booked only by phone or at the box office. National merit recipients get 50% for themselves and one companion. Bring your disability card or ID when collecting the ticket.
