On show days the main gate stops general traffic from 07:00 until curtain, and since December 2025 the rear gate is exit-only.

제주문예회관 (Jeju Arts Center; officially the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Arts Center) is the main public performing-arts hall in Jeju City, at 69 Donggwang-ro, Ildo 2-dong. It opened on 25 August 1988 and is run by the Jeju Culture and Arts Foundation (문화예술진흥원), a provincial agency. The seat counts and parking rules below were re-checked on 16 October 2026 against the agency's facility pages, notices and directions page. Ticket enquiries: +82-64-710-7656; facility operations: +82-64-710-7605.

How many seats does the Jeju Arts Center main hall have?
The main hall (대극장) at Jeju Arts Center has 828 seats: 607 on the 1st floor and 221 on the 2nd. The agency's facility page, its official seat map and the capacity registered in KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, all agree on 828.
Each floor is split into left, centre and right, and the 1st floor is also split into a front and a rear block, giving nine sections in all. The section counts from the official seat map are below, and they add up exactly to the official 607 and 221.
| Position | Seats by section | Total | Rows |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1F front block | A 107 · B 127 · C 107 | 341 | 1–11 |
| 1F rear block | D 90 · E 86 · F 90 | 266 | 1–9 |
| 2F | G 70 · H 81 · I 70 | 221 | 1–7 |

The centre sections B and H alternate between 11 and 12 seats a row; the side sections mostly have 10. Behind section E on the 1st floor sits the sound desk (F.O.H.), so rows 8 and 9 of E keep only a few seats at each end. The seat map marks ten wheelchair spaces, five behind section D and five behind section F. If you need one, ask for it when you book.
Where should I sit in the Jeju Arts Center main hall?
Seat numbers read as section, then row-seat: "B 5-6" on the map is section B, row 5, seat 6, in the front block of the 1st floor. The suggestions below come from the official seat map's layout, not from seat-view photos.
- Concerts and recitals: the centre sections B and E, where left and right are balanced. A middle row of B shows the whole stage better than rows 1–2.
- Dance and musicals, where you need the whole stage: the front of section E on the 1st floor, or the front rows of section H upstairs. The 2nd floor has only seven rows, so it is not deep.
- Easy in and out: there are doors at both ends of the cross-aisle between the 1st floor's front and rear blocks. The back rows of A and C and the front rows of D and F are closest to it.

The main stage is 15.5 m wide and 15.5 m deep with 8 m of height, plus side stages, an orchestra pit and an acoustic shell. The house curtain depicts Hallasan, the island's volcano, so look for it before the show.
How many seats does the small hall have?
The small hall (소극장) at Jeju Arts Center has 70 fixed seats. The agency's facility page says up to 100 movable seats can be added, "varying by event", and KOPIS lists the small hall at 170, the two combined.
Read 170 as a ceiling. A Jeju Sori report of 13 September 2026 said that even with chairs brought in, the room barely holds about 100. Because the official figure and actual practice differ, check the real capacity on the booking page for a small-hall show.

The small-hall stage is 14.4 m wide and only 4.45 m deep, so the audience sits very close. The fixed seats are four rows in front of the stage: 34 in section 가 (left), 20 in 나 (centre) and 16 in 다 (right). The two doors are behind the seats.

The small hall is due for a change. According to the same report, the agency is planning a remodel next year, replacing the individual seats with unpartitioned tiered seating for 150 or more and adding a dressing room for the small hall. The plan is not final, so dates and size may change.
Is parking free at Jeju Arts Center?
Yes. The Jeju Arts Center car park is for audiences of the halls and galleries and is free. On days with a performance or exhibition, the main gate is closed to general traffic from 07:00 until the event starts. Audience cars, performers' and exhibitors' cars, and cars using the EV chargers are let through.
| Gate | No event that day | Event day |
|---|---|---|
| Main gate (정문) | Entry and exit | General traffic stopped 07:00 until start; audience cars may enter |
| Rear gate (후문) | Exit only | Exit only |
Once a performance or exhibition has started, anyone may use the car park. The agency also asks drivers not to park along the road edge.
The rear-gate rule needs two notices read together. The pinned notice of 15 March 2019 ("문예회관 부설주차장 이용 안내") says the rear-gate barrier opens after a show starts. A later notice, dated 26 November 2025 ("문예회관 부설주차장 공사 안내"), says the rear gate, until then entry-only, would become exit-only after works on 1–15 December 2025. Today, enter by the main gate and leave by the rear gate.

The site plan shows parking scattered around the complex: behind the building by the outdoor stage, beside the provincial dance company's building and near the main gate. The official site does not give the number of spaces. On a big show night, follow the agency's advice to arrive 30 minutes early, or take the bus.
Which buses go to Jeju Arts Center?
The agency's directions page lists two stops in front of the center.
| Stop | Trunk (간선) | Branch (지선) |
|---|---|---|
| Stop 1 | 201 | 425-2 |
| Stop 2 | 201-1, 220-1, 230-1, 260, 310-1, 335-1, 335-2, 340-1, 340-2, 340-3, 340-4 | 415, 420-2, 465-1 |
Routes change, so check Jeju's bus information system before you set out.
Can I get in if I arrive after the show has started?
Usually not. The agency's etiquette guide says entry is generally not possible once a show has begun; latecomers wait in the lobby and go in when an usher allows. It asks you to arrive 30 minutes early and be seated 10 minutes before the start. Food and drink are not allowed in the hall, and noisy plastic bags or flower wreaths should go to the cloakroom.
In short
- The main hall has 828 seats (607 downstairs, 221 upstairs); the agency's facility page, its seat map and KOPIS all agree.
- The small hall has 70 fixed seats. The 170 figure includes movable chairs and is an official maximum; a local report puts the real figure at about 100. A remodel to 150+ seats is under consideration for next year.
- Parking is free. On show days the main gate stops general traffic from 07:00, and since December 2025 the rear gate is exit-only.
Checked on 16 October 2026 against the Jeju Culture and Arts Foundation's main hall and small hall facility pages, its parking notice, its parking works notice, its directions page and audience etiquette (all Korean), a Jeju Sori report of 13 September 2026 and KOPIS venue data.
