National Theater of Korea, Haeoreum Theater: parking rates, 50% discounts, pre-payment kiosks, cloakroom and shuttle bus (as of September 2026)

The rates and hours below were checked on September 16, 2026 against the National Theater of Korea's official parking guide, facilities guide, Haeoreum Theater page and directions page, and compared with the KOPIS registration on our National Theater of Korea venue page. The National Theater of Korea (국립극장) sits on the slopes of Namsan in Jung-gu, Seoul; its garage serves the Haeoreum, Daloreum, Haneul and Byeoloreum theatres alike.

How big is the National Theater of Korea garage, and when does it close?

The garage is inside the theatre grounds at 59 Jangchungdan-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, holds 583 cars, and runs 05:00–23:00; no cars are admitted after 23:00. It is split into 296 surface spaces (158 in the open lot, 97 at the main building, 41 at the annex) and 287 underground (133 on B1, 154 on B2).

Group coaches need advance notice, and parking enquiries go to the National Theater Foundation's parking control room at 02-2280-5815. The theatre's own advice is that the garage is small and public transport is preferable.

What does parking cost for audience members at the National Theater of Korea?

Performance and paid-exhibition visitors pay 5,000 won for under 5 hours by having the kiosk scan the ticket barcode, with a 10,000 won daily cap; the general rate for non-visitors is 1,000 won for the first 30 minutes then 500 won per 10 minutes, capped at 25,000 won a day for cars. Leaving within 20 minutes is free, but that cannot be combined with any other discount.

The audience rate applies only when the kiosk reads your ticket barcode, so have the barcode screen ready if you hold a mobile ticket.

Who gets the 50% parking discount?

Compact cars, disabled drivers with their own card, national-merit holders with their own card (bereaved-family cards included), vehicles with a low-emission sticker, multi-child card holders and veterans' compensation recipients with a national veterans' registration get 50% off, but only if they leave before 23:00. No discount of any kind applies after 23:00.

Where are the pre-payment kiosks?

Self-service pre-payment kiosks are in three places: the Haeoreum and Daloreum lobbies, the lift halls on the garage's ground floor and B1, and the exit of the staffed pay booth on the ground floor. Exits jam after a show, so scan your ticket and pay at a lobby kiosk before you leave the building and you will not queue at the barrier.

Where is the Haeoreum Theater cloakroom, and is it free?

The Haeoreum Theater cloakroom is in the 1st-floor lobby, free for same-day Haeoreum ticket holders, and open from one hour before curtain until 10 minutes after the show ends. It takes only items barred from the auditorium (bouquets, food, suitcases), and the Daloreum and Haneul theatres run their own separate cloakrooms.

The same lobby has a nursing room open from one hour before a Haeoreum show until 10 minutes after, and the Raonnuri children's playroom on level L is a free, teacher-staffed space from 30 minutes before curtain until the end (02-2280-4213). Opera glasses can be borrowed at the customer centre on level L from one hour before curtain until 15 minutes after the show; loss or damage costs 50,000 won for the glasses and 8,000 won for the case.

How many seats does Haeoreum Theater have, and does KOPIS agree?

Haeoreum Theater has 1,221 seats including 12 wheelchair seats according to the theatre's own page, and KOPIS registers the same 1,221. By level it is 750 on the 1st floor (including 12 wheelchair seats and 76 orchestra-pit seats), 246 on the 2nd and 225 on the 3rd.

For the whole complex KOPIS lists Haeoreum 1,221, Haneul 627, Daloreum 510 and Byeoloreum 74.

Where does the National Theater shuttle bus leave from, and when?

The free shuttle to the theatre leaves from the Namsan circular-bus stop outside Exit 6 of Dongguk Univ. Station on Line 3, running every 10–15 minutes from one hour before curtain until 20 minutes before. After the show, a return shuttle leaves from the stop in front of Haneul Theater via Dongguk Univ. Station Exit 1 to Gwanghui intersection by Exits 4 and 5 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (Lines 2, 4, 5), running until 10 minutes after the show ends.

The theatre notes that the shuttle runs flexibly with demand and carbon-reduction policy. On foot it is 10–15 minutes from Dongguk Univ. Station, and the 01 Namsan circular bus is an alternative.
