Where is Sejong Arts Center, and how is it different from Sejong Center in Seoul?

Sejong Arts Center (세종예술의전당) is at 21 Gungnipbangmulgwan-ro, Naseong-dong, Sejong City — the only dedicated professional performance venue in Sejong. It is a completely different place from Sejong Center for the Performing Arts (세종문화회관) in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. It is also separate from Sejong Culture & Arts Center (세종문화예술회관) in Jochiwon-eup, although the same Sejong City Culture & Tourism Foundation runs both. Check the address before you book.

The venue occupies a 35,780㎡ site and rises five floors above ground with one basement level. It holds an orchestra rehearsal room, four general rehearsal rooms and 17 dressing rooms, plus a variable-reverberation system and 513 stage lighting circuits. The main phone number is +82-44-850-8989.

How many seats does the Grand Theater have?

The Grand Theater seats 1,063 according to Sejong Arts Center's own website, but 1,071 according to its KOPIS venue registration — a difference of eight seats. Both sources agree it is the largest hall in Sejong City.

The gap looks like a difference in counting rather than an error on either side. For other venues KOPIS publishes wheelchair spaces separately in a disabledseatscale field, but that field is empty for this hall, so the eight seats cannot be pinned down from the records alone. Is the view blocked from second-floor seats?

Sejong Arts Center states officially that the second floor of the Grand Theater has a safety bar fitted for audience protection, and that it can restrict the view depending on the production. How much it restricts depends on where the seat is and on the height and seated height of the person in it, so it is not fair to call the whole second floor a bad view.

Staging matters too: cameras and set pieces sometimes sit in the sightline, so conditions change from show to show. If you are booking upstairs, read the sightline note on the seating chart at your ticket agent first, or ask their call centre about that specific seat.

How many parking spaces are there, and what does parking cost?

Sejong Arts Center has 292 parking spaces of its own, and the first hour is free. After that it is 200 won per 10 minutes, capped at 10,000 won a day. If you attended a performance or exhibition, the first hour after it ends is also free.

The 292 spaces are 220 on the ground floor plus 72 in the basement, and those two figures add up exactly to the published total. Three bus bays and nine women-only spaces sit outside that count. The car park operates 24 hours a day, year round.

Rates are set under Sejong City's parking ordinance, and exemptions and reductions follow that ordinance together with the venue's own parking rules.

What if the car park is full?

Sejong Arts Center's own guidance says plainly that "there are few parking spaces, so please use public transport" — so on a popular night, plan around the 292 spaces filling early. There are two fallbacks.

A free temporary car park opens only on performance and event days, and space is limited. The paid alternative is the Dosisangjing Plaza underground car park, about a five-minute walk from the hall.

How do you get there by public transport?

The buses that stop right outside Sejong Arts Center — a five-minute walk — are city routes 203, 204 and 205. Route 801 stops at Naseong Middle School / Naseong Elementary School, seven minutes away, and BRT routes B1 and B2 stop at Hansol-dong BRT station, a 20-minute walk of about 900m.

Coming from elsewhere, Seoul Station to Osong Station takes about 50 minutes and Busan Station to Osong about two hours; from Osong it is a 30-minute BRT ride to Hansol-dong. You can also reach Sejong Express Bus Terminal from East Seoul or Daejeon Complex terminal and change to route 801.

Sejong City's accessible transport service, Nuricall (1899-9042), is available to riders with limited mobility — people with severe disabilities, those aged 65 and over with long-term care grades 1–3, and national merit recipients with disability grades 1–3, among others.
