Seongsan Art Hall Grand Theater seating chart: how to read it, three best seats, and 60 restricted-view seats
On the Seongsan Art Hall seating chart, A to E are blocks, not rows; blocks B, C and D have 10 seats a row, so seat number divided by 10, rounded up, gives the row. Best picks: ground floor C 31–100, ground floor C 103–140, balcony C 21–60. Avoid the 60 restricted-view balcony seats. Parking: 489 cars (October 2026).

성산아트홀 (Seongsan Art Hall) is the Changwon Cultural Foundation's arts centre at 181 Jungang-daero, Seongsan-gu, Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, opened on 25 April 2000. Its Grand Theater (대극장) is the largest in the province and regularly hosts opera, big musicals and orchestras. We checked the foundation's seating page, the downloadable seating-chart spreadsheet it publishes, and its facility, directions and etiquette pages on 2 October 2026, and compared them with public.ai.kr's KOPIS venue data.

How many seats does the Seongsan Art Hall Grand Theater have?
Per the Changwon Cultural Foundation seating page, the Seongsan Art Hall Grand Theater has 1,708 seats including 18 wheelchair spaces. The ground floor's 1,026, the balcony's 604, the orchestra pit's 60 and the 18 wheelchair spaces add up to exactly 1,708.
| Level | Seats by block | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Ground floor | A 178 · B 230 · C 210 · D 230 · E 178 | 1,026 |
| Balcony | A 152 · B 100 · C 100 · D 100 · E 152 | 604 |
| Orchestra pit | Row O | 60 |
| Wheelchair | Reserve in advance | 18 |
| Total | 1,708 |
The foundation's spreadsheet chart holds 1,690 numbered seats (wheelchair spaces excluded), and every block matches the table above cell for cell. Yet the facility page on the same website calls the Grand Theater "1,700 seats" and the small theatre 510, and KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, also lists 1,700 and 510. The seating page gives the small theatre 516 including 6 wheelchair spaces, so the foundation's own site uses two sets of figures. For choosing a seat, the numbered chart (1,708) is the one to trust.

What do the letters on the Seongsan Art Hall seating chart mean?
The letters A, B, C, D and E on the Seongsan Art Hall chart are blocks running left to right, not rows. You work out the row from the seat number: blocks B, C and D have 10 seats a row, so divide by 10 and round up. Ground floor C45 is in the fifth row of block C.

What the spreadsheet shows about the numbering:
- Numbers snake back and forth. If the first row runs 1→10, the second runs 20→11.
- Aisle seats end in 0 or 1. In ground-floor blocks B and D, the seats beside the aisle to block C are 10, 11, 30, 31 and so on.
- The ground-floor cross aisle falls between seats 100 and 101. Behind it block C runs 101–210 (11 rows) and blocks B and D 101–230 (13 rows); the sound booth sits right behind C201–210.
- Four seats are held back as house seats: ground floor C101–102 and D99–100. They are often not on general sale.

Which seats are best in the Seongsan Art Hall Grand Theater?
Three picks, by purpose: ground floor C31–100 for faces, ground floor C103–140 for a clear view over the aisle, balcony C21–60 for the whole stage picture.
| Pick | Seats | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ① | Ground floor C31–100 | Rows 4–10 of the centre front block |
| ② | Ground floor C103–140 | First four rows behind the cross aisle; row one has nobody in front |
| ③ | Balcony C21–60 | Balcony centre, the four rows behind the aisle |
- C1–30 (rows 1–3) are very close; you may be looking up.
- If block C is sold out, the 0- and 1-ending aisle seats of ground-floor B and D are the next best.
- If a show sells the orchestra pit (row O), the stage moves one step further away; check whether row O is on sale.
- In balcony blocks B, C and D, seats 1–20 form the front two rows; after an aisle, 21–100 fill eight rows, with 21–30 right behind it.
Where are the restricted-view seats?
All 60 seats coloured "restricted view" (시야장애석) on the foundation's spreadsheet are in the balcony, mostly the front row by the rail plus a few at the ends. If your seat is in this list, look elsewhere first.
| Balcony block | Restricted seats | Count |
|---|---|---|
| A | 1–11, 65–68 | 15 |
| B | 1–10 | 10 |
| C | 1–10 | 10 |
| D | 1–10 | 10 |
| E | 1–9, 18–19, 72–75 | 15 |

No ground-floor seat is marked restricted. Even so, the front of blocks A and E downstairs looks at the stage from a sharp side angle on the auditorium plan, so prefer B, C and D where you can.

How big is the Seongsan Art Hall car park, and where is the entrance?
Per the foundation's facility page the Seongsan Art Hall car park holds 489 cars, 355 indoors and 134 outdoors. The general car park and the underground entrance are on the Grand Theater side, with surface accessible parking on the Changwon City Hall side. The facility and directions pages do not list parking fees, so ask the foundation on +82-55-719-7800~2.

Which buses stop at Seongsan Art Hall?
The "Seongsan Art Hall" stop is served by express buses 3000 and 3004, trunk buses 100 and 156 and branch bus 223. On weekend evenings with a big show the car park can fill, so the bus is worth considering.
How early should I arrive?
The foundation's etiquette page asks you to arrive at least 20 minutes before curtain and be seated 10 minutes before; late entry is not allowed as a rule once the show starts. No food or drink may be taken in, and every show has a minimum age that is strictly applied. The 18 wheelchair spaces must be reserved in advance on +82-55-719-7800~3.
In short
- The letters A–E on the Seongsan Art Hall chart are blocks; in B, C and D, seat number divided by 10 and rounded up gives the row.
- Best picks are ground floor C31–100, ground floor C103–140 and balcony C21–60; avoid the 60 restricted-view balcony seats.
- The seating chart gives 1,708 seats while the facility page and KOPIS say 1,700; the car park holds 489 cars.
Checked on 2 October 2026. Seat counts, numbering and restricted seats follow the Changwon Cultural Foundation seating page and the spreadsheet chart on it; the opening date, parking capacity and facility-page seat counts the Seongsan Art Hall facility page; buses and driving routes the directions page; arrival time, food and age rules the etiquette page. The KOPIS seat counts are from public.ai.kr's venue data. Arrangements can change, so call the foundation on +82-55-719-7800~2 before you go.
