Suseong Artpia parking and sightlines: Yongji Hall, Muhak Hall and Alto Hall

Everyone booking their first show at 수성아트피아 (Suseong Artpia, the municipal arts centre in Daegu's Suseong-gu) gets stuck on the same two things: where to put the car, and whether the seat they are about to buy actually sees the stage. Here is each answer, checked against the venue's own published sources.

Where do I enter the Suseong Artpia car park, and how many spaces are there?

Suseong Artpia has 264 parking spaces across ground level and the basement, and because the building is two floors below ground and two above, the main parking levels are basement 1 and basement 2. Set your navigation to 대구광역시 수성구 무학로 180 and turn left at 두산오거리 towards "대구지방경찰청, 수성아트피아" — the car park entrance is immediately there. The two-below, two-above structure is stated in the Suseong Cultural Foundation's facility listing.

The venue's own directions page gives routes from five motorway exits — 수성IC, 동대구IC, 서대구역IC, 북대구IC and 서대구IC — but every one of them ends the same way, through 두산오거리 and into the car park. You do not need to memorise your exit's route; you only need to find that junction.

How much does parking at Suseong Artpia cost?

The rate is not published anywhere. As of September 2026 we checked the venue's own website, the Suseong Cultural Foundation's facility page and the Korea Tourism Organization's barrier-free listing, and none of them carries a parking tariff.

One thing is certain, though. Suseong-gu's published list of public car parks covers 36 off-street sites and 216 on-street sites totalling 4,190 spaces, and Suseong Artpia appears on neither. The district's rate card — 1,000 won for the first 30 minutes in zone 1, then 500 won per 10 minutes — therefore does not apply here; this is the venue's own car park. Rather than trusting a figure copied from another blog, check with your ticket seller or call the venue on 053-668-1800.

What are the sightlines like in the Grand Theatre's second tier?

Of the 428 seats in the second tier of the Grand Theatre (대극장, also called 용지홀 / Yongji Hall), 43 are classified by the venue itself as restricted-view seats. The other 385 are ordinary seats, so the whole tier is not a write-off — you simply avoid one block. Check the seating chart for that marking once before you confirm.

The first tier holds 731 seats, of which 12 are wheelchair spaces and 719 ordinary seats.

There is no acoustic reason to avoid the upper tier. Reporting on the 2023 refurbishment records that the hall's 1.7-second reverberation time and its curved ceiling were both preserved; what was replaced was the stage machinery, lighting and sound equipment.

What is the Recital Hall — and Alto Hall — best suited to?

The Recital Hall (소극장, also called 무학홀 / Muhak Hall) seats 301 on a single level, so the variation in sightlines from seat to seat is far smaller than in the Grand Theatre. Of the 301 seats, 297 are ordinary and 4 are wheelchair spaces. The venue describes it as "optimised for recitals and small-scale performances".

How strongly it leans that way is visible in the registration data. Of the 361 productions at Suseong Artpia held in public.ai.kr's records (covering 9 January 2025 to 29 December 2026), 216 were in the Recital Hall, and 181 of those were classical music — eight in ten.

Alto Hall seats 74. The venue's own description calls it a "stage-format lecture room seating up to 74, dedicated to music listening" — closer to a listening and lecture space than a conventional auditorium. At 74 seats there is no sightline question to answer.

Where are the wheelchair spaces and accessible parking bays?

There are 12 wheelchair spaces in the Grand Theatre's first tier and 4 in the Recital Hall. Three independent sources agree on those figures: the venue's own seating information, the Korea Tourism Organization's barrier-free listing, and the hall records registered with KOPIS, Korea's performing-arts data network, which record 12 and 4 respectively.

Accessible parking runs to nine bays — five at ground level and four in the basement. That split appears only on the Korea Tourism Organization's page, which also records a step-free main entrance with automatic doors and a gentle ramp, lifts and a wheelchair lift, one wheelchair available to borrow from the Grand Theatre lobby, an accessible toilet to the left of the Recital Hall, and a nursing room with a baby changing table.

How do I get there by subway or bus?

Take Daegu Metro Line 3 to 수성못역 (Suseongmot) and walk 11 minutes, or take bus 204, 403, 814, 수성5 or 수성6 to the "수성아트피아앞" stop. The venue's directions page goes further and names the bus and boarding point for each arrival station.

Can I trust reviews written before the 2023 reopening?

Suseong Artpia closed for refurbishment in January 2022 and reopened on 1 May 2023, seventeen months later. Any seating or facilities write-up published before May 2023 may therefore be describing a different room from the one you will sit in.

The work was substantial. A reported 12 billion won replaced analogue stage machinery, lighting and sound with digital systems; the set battens went from 26 to 34 and the sound inputs from 48 channels to 192. The 1.7-second reverberation time and the curved ceiling were deliberately left alone. The equipment changed; the acoustics did not.

Why do the venue's seating information and the KOPIS record disagree?

Suseong Artpia presents three performance spaces — Grand Theatre, Recital Hall and Alto Hall — but the halls registered with KOPIS are the Grand Theatre (1,159), the Recital Hall (301) and the Grand Theatre lobby (0). Alto Hall is absent; the lobby is registered instead, and one production has actually been staged there.

That is why the KOPIS facility total reads 1,460 seats (1,159 + 301 + 0) — a figure that does not include Alto Hall's 74. Since a ticket seller's listing may follow either source, it is safer to check the hall name than the seat count.

Be careful with that last row. The number Suseong Artpia publishes on its own site, and which the Korea Tourism Organization also uses, is 053-668-1800 — not the 053-666-3300 held in the KOPIS facility record.

In short

1. Parking is on basement levels 1 and 2, 264 spaces in all. No rate is published anywhere and this is not a district-run car park, so call 053-668-1800 if you need to know.
2. In the Grand Theatre's second tier, only 43 of 428 seats are restricted-view. Avoid those 43, not the whole tier.
3. For a recital, choose the Recital Hall: 181 of the 216 productions staged there were classical.
