How many seats does XSCALA have, and how are they split by floor?

XSCALA (엑스칼라), a mid-size concert hall on the tenth floor of the MESA building next to Shinsegae's flagship store in central Seoul, seats 637: 407 on the first floor and 230 on the second. The 230 upstairs includes 25 balcony seats and 7 wheelchair spaces. The official seat map publishes every seat as a table, so for this guide we added the table up ourselves. It matches the published figure exactly, floor by floor.

The first floor runs from row A to row T — twenty rows — in three blocks. Counted block by block that is 98 seats on the left, 200 in the centre and 109 on the right, which is 407.

The second floor runs from row A to row L, twelve rows. There are 198 numbered seats plus 7 wheelchair spaces, so 205, and the two side balconies add 25 for a total of 230.

KOPIS, Korea's public performing-arts database, also registers XSCALA at 637 seats — not a single seat apart from the venue's own figure. Press coverage of the December 2025 opening, however, described it as "a 630-seat hall", and that number is still being copied around. The current figure is 637.

Where exactly are the 20 official sight-line photos taken from?

XSCALA's official seat map carries 20 clickable points that open a photo of the stage as seen from that spot — 9 on the first floor and 11 on the second. The photos themselves carry no seat number, so we read the coordinates of each point on the map: the first-floor nine form a 3×3 grid of front/middle/rear by left/centre/right, and the second floor adds two balcony points to the same nine-point grid.

Balcony seats are numbered on a different scheme from everything else: 2-0 to 2-24, with 2-0 to 2-11 on the left (12 seats) and 2-12 to 2-24 on the right (13 seats). If your booking confirmation shows a seat number beginning 2-, you are in the balcony.

How many wheelchair spaces are there, and where?

XSCALA has 7 wheelchair spaces, and all 7 are on the second floor. The seat map marks them W1 to W7: W1–W3 sit in row A, the front row of the upper level, and W4–W7 sit behind row L at the very back. The first-floor map shows none at all.

The venue's facility page describes the 230 second-floor seats as "including 7 accessible seats", while the seat map describes the same 230 as "including 25 balcony and 7 wheelchair seats". Both refer to the same seats.

Does XSCALA have parking?

In practice, treat it as having none. The official directions page says only that "parking at the venue is cramped; please use public transport where possible, and check a nearby paid car park in advance in case we are full." It publishes neither a space count nor a rate, and XSCALA's KOPIS record lists no car park either.

If you must drive, pick out a couple of private car parks around Namdaemun Market and Hoehyeon-dong before you set off. But with Hoehyeon station one minute away on foot, this is a venue where public transport clearly wins.

How long does it take by subway or bus?

One minute on foot (50m) from exit 7 of Hoehyeon station on subway line 4, and seven minutes from Myeongdong station. The address is 2 Namdaemunsijang 10-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, and the hall is on the tenth floor of the MESA building.

Buses stop at three places.

Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong and the Shinsegae flagship store are all within walking distance, which makes the hour before or after a show easy to fill.

How many lockers are there, and how do they work?

There are 42 lockers in the XSCALA lobby: 20 small ones at 2,000 won and 22 large ones at 4,000 won.

The part people miss is how you pay. These are token-operated, not card or QR, so you have to buy a token before you can use one. A sign above the lockers reads "buy only the tokens you need before using a locker", and step one of the usage notice beside them is "after putting your belongings in, insert the dedicated token (coin) first." The lock itself is a physical key: close the door, turn the key to the left, then pull the key out and keep it on you.

The posted rules are these.

The lockers are not run by the venue itself but by a contractor, SoJae International. The notice states plainly that this is a self-managed facility, so a loss caused by not checking that the door locked is not the operator's responsibility. The box office only handles lost keys.

Is XSCALA the old Mesa Hall?

Yes. Mesa Hall, on the tenth floor of the MESA building beside the Shinsegae flagship store, was completely renovated by TME Group in partnership with Shinsegae and reopened as XSCALA in December 2025. The opening run was Lee Mu-jin's small-hall concert, which began on 20 December 2025.

The name attaches an X to "Scala", after Milan's La Scala; the operator glosses the X as both "Extreme 10" and the infinity sign, for open-ended expansion. The official website went live on 25 March 2026. KOPIS records the opening year as 2026, though the first performance was in December 2025.

In short

1. 637 is the right number. Adding up the official seat map gives 407 on the first floor, 230 on the second and 637 in total, and KOPIS registers the same 637. The 630 in the opening press coverage is out of date.
2. The official sight-line photos cover 9 first-floor and 11 second-floor positions. This guide puts all 20 in viewpoint order with the front/middle/rear and left/centre/right position attached to each. All 7 wheelchair spaces are on the second floor.
3. Don't count on parking — use exit 7 at Hoehyeon station, one minute away. Leave bags in one of the 42 lobby lockers, but buy a token first and collect within an hour of the curtain call.
