How are the 796 seats in the main hall divided?

The main hall (대공연장) at 양산문화예술회관 — Yangsan Culture and Arts Center, in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang — seats 796: 270 on floor 1, 230 on the raised mezzanine behind it (중1층), 94 in the front balcony (2층), 194 in the rear balcony (중2층), plus 8 wheelchair spaces. Counting the official seat map block by block reproduces every one of those figures, and KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, records the same 796.

Wheelchair8Back row of the mezzanine (가 1 · 나 6 · 다 1)

There are no lettered rows. Seats are numbered continuously within three blocks: 가 (ga) on the left as you face the stage, 나 (na) in the centre and 다 (da) on the right.

The number alone tells you the tier. On the floor-1 plan, seats up to 87 in blocks 가 and 다, and up to 96 in block 나, are floor 1; anything higher is the mezzanine. On the balcony plan, seats up to 48 in 가 and 다, and up to 36 in 나, are the front balcony; anything higher is the rear balcony.

Balcony numbering does not start at 1: it begins at 11 in 가, 13 in 나 and 14 in 다, and block 가 has no seats 20–22. Working from the number ranges gives 97 front-balcony seats; counting the seats gives 94. The centre's own description calls the rear balcony "floor 3, 194 seats" while the seat-map summary calls it "중2 194" — same section.

Clicking a camera icon on the centre's seat map opens a photo of the stage taken from that seat. The photos below are those official views; the centre notes they may differ slightly from what you actually see.

Which seats on floor 1 of the main hall have the best view?

Comparing the official photos, the middle of block 나 on floor 1 (seats in the 50s to 80s) is the best balanced: the whole proscenium, from the top of the frame to the stage floor, fits in one view. Each block has eight rows on floor 1. The front row puts performers' faces closest, but you look up at the stage, so action towards the back of the stage floor can be cut off.

An angled view of the stage from the right of the front row
Floor 1, block 다 seat 7 — front row, right; the mirror image of block 가 (source: 양산문화예술회관 official website)

Front-row seats in blocks 가 and 다 see the stage at an angle, and the far side can drop out of view. For dance or musicals, a seat a row or two back and nearer the centre is the better choice.

Floor 1, block 가 seat 56 — mid-floor, left; angled but the whole stage is visible (source: 양산문화예술회관 official website)

Even at the sides, the middle of floor 1 is not steeply angled, so if block 나 is sold out, the middle of 가 or 다 is a good fallback.

How different are the front and back of the mezzanine?

The front of the mezzanine sits a step above floor 1, so heads in front block less, and the stage and both speaker stacks fit squarely in view — good for seeing the whole picture. From the back row the whole stage is still visible, but it is noticeably smaller than from mid-floor 1. The mezzanine has six rows in block 나 and seven in 가 and 다.

The eight wheelchair spaces are in the back row of the mezzanine: one at the end of block 가, six in block 나 and one at the start of block 다.

Does the balcony rail block the view from the upper tiers?

Yes — the rail shows at the bottom of all six official balcony photos. The front balcony (94 seats, three rows) looks down onto the stage floor, which suits dance and ensemble movement, and from the centre block the rail only just clips the bottom of the view.

In the rear balcony (194 seats, seven rows) the front-balcony rail and your own rail overlap, and the stage looks smallest. Treat it as the budget option, or the one to take when the lower tiers have sold out.

Which main-hall section suits which kind of show?

For most shows, choose in this order: mid-floor 1, then the front of the mezzanine, then the centre of the front balcony. The priority shifts a little by genre.

Is every seat in the small hall close to the stage?

Yes. The small hall (소공연장) at 양산문화예술회관 is a single fan-shaped tier of 164 seats — 162 standard plus 2 wheelchair spaces — so even the back row is close. Counting the seat map gives rows A 18, B 22, C 24, D 28, E 30, F 28 and G 12, exactly 162; row G exists only to the left of the central stair aisle. The two wheelchair spaces are at the back on the right.

KOPIS lists the small hall at 167 seats, three more than the centre's own figure of 164. The centre's seat map is the better guide to what a booking page will show. The official map also mislabels seat C22 as "C122".

Row A is immersive, but from the end seats (A1, A18) you turn your head to see the far side of the stage. The most comfortable views are on the central aisle.

The ends of the fan (F1, E30) see the stage side-on, so for a talk or seminar with a lectern at one side, pick a central block.

How many seats does the outdoor stage have?

The outdoor stage (야외공연장) beside the main hall is a 210-seat fan-shaped amphitheatre used for concerts and traditional Korean music. KOPIS registers only the main and small halls for this venue, so the outdoor capacity appears only on the centre's own facilities page.

Behind the main hall there is a children's playground with wooden equipment and rubber matting, and an exhibition gallery in the basement of the small-hall building — both handy before or after a show.

Where do you park at 양산문화예술회관, and what does it cost?

According to the centre's directions page, there are two car parks: the lot beside the centre (다방동 543-1) and a public car park (남부동 877-1). The centre does not publish a rate or a space count for either.

Neither address appears in Yangsan City's list of public car parks (79 sites, 3,734 spaces), so the city's published tariff cannot be assumed to apply. Call 055-380-0930 before you go for the current rate.

How do you collect tickets — are mobile tickets accepted?

No — 양산문화예술회관 does not issue mobile tickets. From an hour before the performance, give the booker's name and phone number at the box office and collect a paper ticket to get in.

  • Bring proof for any discounted ticket, or pay the difference at the counter.
  • If someone else booked, show a photo of the booking and give the booker's name and phone number.
  • Online booking is open 24 hours and closes at 5pm the day before the show; remaining seats go on sale at the venue an hour before curtain.
  • Bank-transfer bookings are cancelled automatically if unpaid by midnight the next day.
  • Discounts cannot be combined, but on a multi-ticket booking each ticket can take a different discount. The seniors' discount is limited to one ticket per account.
  • For shows by outside hirers, check collection with the organiser.

What does it cost to cancel a booking?

Cancelling up to 10 days before the show is free; after that the fee rises from 10% to 90% of the ticket price. Seats and times cannot be changed — cancel and rebook instead — and cancelling only some seats on a booking is not normally allowed.

Up to three business days before the show, a cancellation within 24 hours of booking is refunded in full. From the day before the show, cancellations go through the centre on 055-380-0930.

Can you take food or coffee into the auditorium?

Only bottled water with a cap is allowed in the auditorium. Takeaway coffee goes on the drinks shelf in the lobby, and food you have brought, such as cake or sandwiches, can be left at the lobby cloakroom — though it will not take food that has been opened.

Be seated at least 10 minutes before the start, stay in your assigned seat rather than moving to an empty one, and note that flash, photography and recording are strictly forbidden.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes. There are accessible bays in the centre's car park, a ramp into the main-hall lobby, and accessible men's and women's toilets in the floor-1 lobby of the main hall. The main hall has 8 wheelchair spaces (back row of the mezzanine) and the small hall 2 (back right), and wheelchairs can be borrowed from the lobby information desk.

In short

  1. Main hall: 796 = 270 floor 1 + 230 mezzanine + 94 front balcony + 194 rear balcony + 8 wheelchair. Counting the seat map and KOPIS give the same total. Mid-floor 1 in block 나 is the best-balanced view, and the balcony rail shows in every official upper-tier photo.
  2. Small hall: 164 seats by the centre's count, 167 in KOPIS. It is a single fan-shaped tier, so every seat is close; the central aisle seats are the most comfortable.
  3. Parking is beside the centre (다방동 543-1) or at 남부동 877-1, with no published rates or space counts. There are no mobile tickets — collect a paper ticket from an hour before the show.

These seating, parking and booking details were checked on 29 September 2026 against the official website of 양산문화예술회관, run by the Yangsan Cultural Foundation: its facilities, directions, booking, cancellation and audience etiquette pages and its FAQ (posted May 2026), with hall seat counts cross-checked against KOPIS. The website address KOPIS holds for the venue, yangsanart.net, now redirects to this new site. Prices and policies change, so confirm on 055-380-0930 before you travel.
