Yeonhee Art Theater parking and directions: one space, three nearby car parks, 15 minutes from Hongik Univ. Station

Yeonhee Art Theater (연희예술극장, 2-3 Yeonhuimat-ro, Seodaemun-gu) has parking for just one car, so audiences use three pay car parks 1–6 minutes' walk away. By public transport it is a 15-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station, or bus 7734, 7612 or 7739 from the Exit 8 side to the Yeonhui Intersection stop beside the theater.

Is there parking at Yeonhee Art Theater?

Only for one car. Yeonhee Art Theater (연희예술극장), a small black-box venue in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, says on its space-rental page that the building can take one vehicle and that everyone else should "use a nearby car park". The official pages mention no free or discounted audience parking, so plan on paying at one of the three lots below.

These are the three lots the theater lists, nearest first.

WalkCar park (as the theater names it)Address
1 minGS Park24 car park188-52 Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu
5 minYeonhui Saruga private car park130-5 Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu
6 minKEB Hana Bank Yeonhui-dong branch car park137-5 Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu

The one-minute lot goes by two names. The theater's page calls it "GS Park24", while Naver Map lists the same address (188-52 Yeonhui-dong) as a NICE Park on-street private car park. Enter the lot-number address in your navigation app rather than either name. The bank behind the six-minute lot has also dropped "KEB" and is now simply Hana Bank Yeonhui-dong branch (103 Yeonhui-ro).

All three are ordinary pay car parks, not the theater's own. Rates and hours vary by lot and change often, so check a parking app or the sign on site before you go.

If you do drive:

  • Yeonhui-dong and neighbouring Yeonnam-dong are full of restaurants and cafés, and the side streets fill up on weekend evenings. Aim to arrive about 40 minutes before curtain.
  • Save the addresses of the five- and six-minute lots too, so you can move on at once if the nearest one is full.
  • Do not park in the alley outside the theater. It is a mixed residential and shopping street, and kerbside parking draws enforcement and complaints.
  • Check the car park's closing time against the end of the show.

How long is the walk from Hongik University Station?

About 15 minutes from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station (Line 2, Gyeongui–Jungang Line and AREX), according to the theater's official map. You follow the Gyeongui Line Forest Park north towards Yeonnam-dong, then walk one street straight to the theater. The map's route:

  1. Leave by Exit 3 and walk north along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park (towards Yeonnam-dong).
  2. Turn right into the side street where you see Hollys Coffee and Randy's Donuts.
  3. Cross the junction in front of Soi Yeonnam and carry straight on past the emart24.
  4. Go through the Yeonhui underpass (연희굴다리); the theater, at 2-3 Yeonhuimat-ro, is on the right at the end of the street.

The park and the Yeonnam-dong streets on the way are lined with cafés and restaurants, which makes it easy to eat before the show. The theater is a café as well, so arriving early is no hardship.

Which bus goes to Yeonhee Art Theater, and where do I get off?

The theater's map says to take bus 7734, 7612 or 7739 from the Exit 8 side of Hongik Univ. Station. Two stops serve the theater: Yeonhui Intersection (연희교차로) and Yeonhui 104 Hill (연희 104고지 앞, the former Seongsan Hall stop). On the map the Yeonhui Intersection stop sits just to the right of the theater, so get off there for the shortest walk.

Should I drive or take public transport?

Take public transport if you are one or two people. Driving only wins if you are carrying a lot or worried about getting home late at night.

How is the seating laid out at Yeonhee Art Theater?

It changes with every production. Yeonhee Art Theater describes itself as a café-théâtre (café plus theater) of about 100 pyeong (roughly 330 m²) with a ceiling over 5 m high, built as a flexible studio. One show may use raked seating, another floor cushions or a promenade staging.

KOPIS, Korea's national performing-arts database, registers it as a single hall, "연희예술극장", with 100 seats. In a flexible room that figure is the registered capacity rather than a fixed seat count. Whether a show has reserved seats or first-come seating is stated on the booking page for that production, so read it before you go.
