The National Asian Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju has three car parks, A, B and an annex, and which one you choose decides how far you walk underground to your theatre. For shows in the ACC Theater (Theaters 1 and 2) use car park A; for Theater 3 and the Children's Theater use car park B; on a Monday or in a large bus use the annex car park, which never closes. Everything below was checked in October 2026 against ACC's official parking, site map, EV charging and FAQ pages and against the venue's KOPIS registration.

Where are the National Asian Culture Center car parks, and how big are they?

The National Asian Culture Center's three car parks hold 1,072 cars and 40 mid-size or large buses between them. Car park A serves the ACC Theater side, car park B the ACC Children side and the annex car park the Sky Garden (Haneul Madang) side; only the annex takes large buses.

Car parks A and B close on Mondays, ACC's regular closing day, and on 1 January; the annex is open every day. The official guide says cars cannot leave outside opening hours, so if you linger after an evening show, remember that A and B close at 22:00. The parking page also links to live occupancy, so you can see which car park has room before you set off.

How much is parking, and how much does a show ticket save?

Parking at the National Asian Culture Center costs 800 won for the first 30 minutes, then 400 won per 15 minutes, capped at 15,000 won a day for a car. Leaving within 30 minutes of entry is free. Using any paid ACC programme, such as a show, exhibition or hands-on activity, takes 3 hours off.

ChargePeriodCar (up to 15 seats)Mid-size/large (16+ seats)
Base30 min800 won1,600 won
Extraper 15 min400 won800 won
Daily cap24 hours15,000 won30,000 won

Three hours in a car comes to 800 + 400 × 10 = 4,800 won, which is exactly what the ticket discount removes, so a show of a little over two hours costs next to nothing to park for.

DiscountConditions (official parking guide)
3 hours offAny paid ACC programme (show, exhibition, activity); show the ticket or parking voucher; not twice for the same programme
1 hour off5,000 won or more at a partner or on-site shop or café; registered by the shop in advance (receipts not accepted); cars only; up to 2 hours across several shops
50% offDisabled visitors, national merit recipients and their families, compact cars, eco-friendly vehicles (incl. low-emission class 3); proof required

Discounts apply on the day only and the same type does not stack. If the pre-payment machine will not apply a discount, press the call button and staff will check your proof. One inconsistency: the rate card draws the mid-size line at 16 seats, but ACC's own FAQ sends buses of 12 seats or more to the annex car park. If you drive a 12–15-seat van, phone ahead to confirm which rate applies.

Can I pay for parking in cash?

No. The National Asian Culture Center car parks are unstaffed and card-only, and the official page says cash is not accepted. You must pay at a pre-payment machine inside the car park before you leave, and the exit machine also takes cards only. If you do not leave within 30 minutes of paying, an extra charge applies.

Which car park is closest for Theater 1 and Theater 2?

For a show in the National Asian Culture Center's ACC Theater, car park A on the theatre side is closest. The ACC Theater goes down into the ground: Theater 2 is on B3 and Theater 1 on B4.

According to the official site map, B3 of the ACC Theater holds Theater 2, Ateliers 1 and 2, a cloakroom, an information desk and the box office, while B4 holds the theatre lobby, Theater 1, Exhibition Hall 1, the ACC Lounge and the Big Door entrance. Exhibition Hall 1 sits right beside Theater 1, so you can look round an exhibition before the show.

Theater 1 is a flexible space whose stage and seating are rebuilt for each production, so the seating plan changes from show to show. It takes up to 944 seats indoors, and opening the Big Door in one wall extends the stage outdoors. Always check the seating plan on the show's own booking page.

Theater 2 is a 512-seat proscenium theatre with a fixed stage and seating. ACC's KOPIS registration lists Theater 1 at 944, Theater 2 at 512, Theater 3 at 248 and the Children's Theater at 120, matching the Theater 1–3 figures in this guide exactly.

Where are Theater 3 and the Children's Theater?

Theater 3 at the National Asian Culture Center is on B3 of ACC Archive & Research, and the Children's Theater is on B2 of ACC Children, so both are closer to car park B than to the ACC Theater.

Theater 3 is a 248-seat auditorium-style hall that hosts recitals, dance and talk concerts without large sets. The library and permanent exhibition share its floor, which makes for an easy look round before or after.

The ACC Children floor guide marks a route from B2 straight to car park B, which makes B the easiest choice with children. The Children's Theater is sometimes described as 100 seats, while KOPIS lists 120, so we give both. Admission to the Children's Experience Hall is 5,000 won for ages 4 to 13 and 3,000 won for ages 14 and over (official admission page), and that ticket counts as a paid programme for the 3-hour parking discount.

Which entrance do I use for ACC Creation exhibitions?

ACC Creation, the exhibition building of the National Asian Culture Center, has two separate entrances: one for Exhibition Hall 1 on B4, beside Theater 1, and one for Exhibition Halls 2–6 on B3. Check which hall your exhibition is in first.

The official guide pairs ACC Creation with the annex car park on the Sky Garden side. For Exhibition Hall 1, though, which shares B4 with Theater 1, you can also walk in from car park A through the theatre lobby (our reading of the map; follow the signs on site).

ACC Creation and ACC Archive & Research stay open until 20:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Where are the EV chargers?

All three National Asian Culture Center car parks have EV chargers, but there is only one fast charger, in car park B. Charging hours follow each car park's opening hours, and charging is paid separately from parking.

Car parkLevelChargers
AB36 slow (7 kW)
BB37 slow (7 kW), 1 fast (50 kW)
AnnexB210 slow (7 kW)

The charging prices on the official page (slow: 234 won/kWh for members, 324.4 won/kWh roaming) are labelled as of 1 September 2023, so check current prices in the operator's iParking app.

Are there cloakrooms or things to borrow?

The National Asian Culture Center's cloakrooms are free, staffed or self-service depending on the building (official FAQ), and the site map shows one on both B3 and B4 of the ACC Theater. Pushchairs and wheelchairs can be borrowed free against an ID card, and powered wheelchairs can be charged free at the ACC Archive & Research and ACC Creation information desks and at the visitor centre on Asian Culture Plaza. If it suddenly rains or snows, the visitor centre, the Asian Culture Museum, ACC Creation, the ACC Theater and ACC Children lend umbrellas free.

How do I get there by subway or bus?

For the National Asian Culture Center, take Gwangju Metro Line 1 to Culture Complex Station (Munhwajeondang) and use exit 5 or 6. Gwangju Songjeong Station and Gwangju Airport are both on the same line.
