Dalseo Arts Center: Cheongnyong Hall seat views, parking and tickets

달서아트센터 (Dalseo Arts Center) is a municipal arts complex in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. It has two indoor theatres: 청룡홀 (Cheongnyong Hall) on the first floor of the main building, and 와룡홀 (Waryong Hall) on the first floor of the annex. Every figure below was checked in September 2026 against the venue's own pages and its KOPIS venue registration.

How many seats does Cheongnyong Hall have, and are any of them bad seats?

청룡홀 (Cheongnyong Hall) seats 460, including 5 wheelchair spaces, and the venue publishes no sightline grading for individual seats. The stage covers 493㎡ behind a proscenium 14.5m wide and 7.3m high, with a 14m x 11m main stage. With 460 seats behind a 14.5m opening, no row grows far wider than the stage itself, so the outermost seats are not pointed past it.

Blocks A, B and C sit in front of the cross-aisle and blocks D, E and F behind it, fanned around the stage. Gates 3 and 4 are the side entrances.

Seen from the back, the floor steps up one level per row. The venue describes the hall as one where "the stage and the seating are adjacent, so the performance feels more immediate".

The side view shows the rows curving toward the stage rather than running straight across. Sightlines still depend on each production's set, so if a specific seat worries you, ask Ticketlink or the venue desk on 053-584-8715.

Backstage is a conventional arrangement of battens and stored stage materials. The venue notes that Cheongnyong Hall supports projection-based staging, and lists everything from classical and modern drama to small-scale opera and musicals as the genres it can take.

Why is Cheongnyong Hall listed as both 460 and 455 seats?

455 is the count with the 5 wheelchair spaces taken out. The venue states 460 seats including 5 wheelchair spaces; the KOPIS venue registration records 455 seats with 5 accessible seats in a separate field. 455 + 5 = 460, so the two numbers describe the same room, and the 455 that Wikipedia and several directory pages quote is simply the one that excludes wheelchair spaces.

The table also shows that the KOPIS seat field is filled in inconsistently across the two halls. For Cheongnyong Hall it holds 455, with the wheelchair spaces excluded; for Waryong Hall the 212 already includes its 3. So the 1,667-seat total KOPIS publishes for the complex is 5 seats short of the 1,672 you get from the venue's own capacities. Worth knowing if you are comparing venues by capacity.

What is Waryong Hall, and how does it differ from Cheongnyong Hall?

와룡홀 (Waryong Hall) is a 212-seat studio theatre, including 3 wheelchair spaces, on the first floor of the annex, and the back row sits just 16m from the stage. The stage covers 84㎡ behind a proscenium 10.9m wide, 5.1m high and 7.25m deep. It holds a Steinway piano and is used for recitals, chamber music, small plays and children's theatre. The name comes from 와룡산 (Waryong Mountain) in Dalseo-gu.

The two halls differ by building, not only by size. Check the hall name printed on your ticket before walking into the main building.

Does the outdoor stage host performances?

KOPIS registers a third venue here, a 1,000-seat outdoor stage, but the registered performances are all indoors. Of the 99 Dalseo Arts Center performances registered with KOPIS between January 2025 and October 2026, 75 were in Cheongnyong Hall and 24 in Waryong Hall; none were on the outdoor stage. Plan around the two indoor halls.

Which building and floor is each hall on?

Cheongnyong Hall is on the first floor of the main building and Waryong Hall on the first floor of the annex. The main building has three floors above ground and one below; the annex has two above and one below. Their second floors are joined by a bridge, so you do not have to go back down to ground level to cross between them.

The main building's first floor holds Cheongnyong Hall, the swimming pool, Gallery Raon, the community culture centre and the academy office. The second floor is classrooms and offices; the third has the Dalseo metaverse experience room, a computer room, a lawn bowling room and a family nursing room.

The annex's first floor holds Waryong Hall, Dalseo Gallery and the culture centre director's office; the second floor has resident-company offices and classrooms; the basement has music practice rooms. The roof is open as an outdoor garden.

How many parking spaces are there, and what does parking cost?

Dalseo Arts Center has 218 parking spaces: 86 at the main building, 23 at the annex and 109 in the outdoor lot. No parking charge is stated anywhere on the venue's directions page (checked September 2026). Several guides call it free, but we could find no official source for that, so ring the desk on 053-584-8715 if the cost matters to your visit.

There are 6 accessible bays in total, 4 at the main building and 2 at the annex. The KOPIS record also lists the venue as having accessible parking, accessible toilets, ramps and lifts.

How do I get to Dalseo Arts Center by public transport?

It is a 15-minute walk from Yongsan station on Daegu Metro Line 2, heading toward the Janggi district apartments, or 20 minutes from exit 3 at Igok station. Two buses stop at the Dalseo Arts Center stop: trunk route 805 and branch route Seongseo 3.

By car, the venue sits between Seongseo IC and Nam-Daegu IC: from the city, head toward Seongseo industrial complex, pass Nam-Daegu IC and take the first road on the right, at the petrol station entrance.

When does the box office open, and how early should I arrive?

The Dalseo Arts Center box office opens one hour before the performance. It stays open until the interval, or until 30 minutes after curtain-up for performances with no interval. The venue's own booking page warns that "just before the performance starts, the car park and the ticket booth get congested and entering on time may be difficult", so allowing 30 minutes covers parking and ticket collection together.

Tickets are sold through Ticketlink, through non-member booking on the venue's website, and by phone on 053-584-8719 or 053-584-8720. Cancelling within 7 days of booking is free; after that a fee applies, scaled to how close the performance is.

How do I sign up for swimming lessons at Dalseo Arts Center?

There is no online checkout: you phone 053-582-7332 and register in person. Registration through the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation's sports club system (sportsclub.sports.or.kr) is also accepted. The pool is on the first floor of the main building, the same floor as Cheongnyong Hall.

For September 2026 adult lessons cost 103,000 won for five sessions a week, 74,000 won for three and 57,000 won for two. Children's classes are 72,000 won on Mon/Wed/Fri and 55,000 won on Tue/Thu. Which class runs depends on the hour.

For open swimming without lessons there is a day pass: 3,500 won for adults, 3,000 won for ages 13-18, 2,500 won under 13 and 2,000 won for over-65s. Open swimming runs 09:00~17:00 on Saturdays and public holidays.

The pool closes every Sunday. Some swimming directories list it as closing on the first and third Sunday only; the venue's own September 2026 timetable says every Sunday.

One more thing worth knowing before you go: the venue states plainly that "because of structural constraints this pool has no separate family (accessible) changing or shower room". If you swim with a carer or a child of the other gender, check with the desk first.
