Kumho Art Hall Yonsei seats and parking: the 390-seat plan row by row, 4 wheelchair spaces, and the Yonsei car park discount (2026)

Kumho Art Hall Yonsei (금호아트홀 연세) is a 390-seat hall built for chamber music, one level below ground in the Baekyang-Nuri building on Yonsei University's Sinchon campus in Seoul. There is one auditorium and no balcony, so there is no "which hall, which floor" to decide — but seat numbers run in one unbroken sequence across three sections, so a number on the booking screen tells you little about where you will sit. This guide counts the official seating plan row by row, and puts the hall's ticket-holder parking table beside Yonsei's standard parking rate so you can see exactly what the discount saves. The figures below were checked in September 2026 against Kumho Art Hall Yonsei's official site, Yonsei University's official parking guide, and the venue's KOPIS registration.

How big is Kumho Art Hall Yonsei and what kind of hall is it?

390 seats. The hall was built with a 10 billion won donation from the Kumho Asiana Group; construction began in August 2014 and finished in October 2015. From 1 May 2019 the Kumho Cultural Foundation moved its Kumho Prodigy, Young Artist and Young Chamber concert series and its Beautiful Thursday series here from the old Gwanghwamun hall, and the schedule today is still mostly piano recitals and chamber music.

Three hundred and ninety seats on 400 ㎡ works out to a little over one square metre per seat. The back row is only the fourteenth, so nothing here corresponds to the "rear balcony" of a large concert hall. The KOPIS record agrees with the venue on 390 seats and lists 4 accessible seats; there is no orchestra pit. How do I read the seating plan?

There are 14 rows, A to N, and seat numbers run in one sequence from the left section to the right. The auditorium is split into a front block (rows A–G) and a rear block (rows H–N), and each block is divided into left, centre and right sections. Numbers increase from left to right as you face the stage, so within any row seat 1 is by the left wall and the high twenties or 30 are by the right wall.

Counted row by row from the official plan, the layout is as follows. The centre section is roughly seats 7–21 in the front block and 8–22 in the rear block.

That adds up to 386 regular seats plus 4 wheelchair spaces, exactly the official 390. There are four entrances: one on each side of the front block, and two at the back of the rear block, left and right.

Where are the best seats?

The centre section, square on to the stage, is the default, and for a piano recital the left section is a good choice too. A chamber hall is close to the stage from every seat, so this is less about avoiding a bad seat than about choosing an angle you like.

This is based on the official seating plan, the hall's 390-seat and 400 ㎡ scale, and how chamber halls generally behave. Stage layout changes with the programme — solo, chamber or a small orchestra — so if you want to be close to a particular performer, check that concert's stage plan before booking.

How many wheelchair spaces are there and where?

Four, all in the front block. On the official seating plan, two wheelchair spaces sit at the left end of row F (outside seat 1) and two at the right end of row G (outside seat 21), each immediately beside the left or right side entrance. That matches the 4 accessible seats in the venue's KOPIS record exactly.

Some blog guides place them in "rows F and G of the rear block", which cannot be right — the rear block starts at row H. All four spaces are in the front block, close to the stage. If you booked at a concession rate (disabled, national merit or senior), the ticket can be collected only by the person entitled to it, with proof shown in person, so allow time at the box office.

Where do I park and how do I get from the car to the hall?

Enter Yonsei University through the main gate, bear right down into the underground car park, park in Zone K on basement level 2, and go up one level: the hall is on basement level 1. That is the route in the venue's own directions — main gate, underground car park on the right, B2 Zone K, then B1 Kumho Art Hall Yonsei — and there is no dedicated car park. Yonsei University's official parking guide names the car park for vehicles entering by the main gate as the Baekyang-ro underground car park, with 917 spaces, and the main-gate payment booth is open 24 hours.

The parking office belongs to Yonsei University (02-2123-2177~8), not to the hall (02-6303-1977). For anything about the fare or the discount, the parking office is the right number.

How much does parking cost, and how much does the ticket discount save?

Show your same-day ticket at the payment booth and you pay 3,000 won for up to three hours. Kumho Art Hall Yonsei's official discount table is below.

The size of the discount only shows when you put it next to Yonsei's standard rate. Yonsei University's official parking guide charges 2,000 won for the first 30 minutes, then 500 won per 10 minutes up to two hours, then 1,000 won per 10 minutes after that, and on weekdays during commuter hours (07:30–09:30 and 18:00–20:00) the first 30 minutes cost 3,000 won. Arrive at 19:00 for an evening concert and you are inside that window.

The standard-rate column is worked straight from Yonsei's official table, and the 12,500 won for three hours also appears as a worked example on the Yonsei Culture and Arts Spaces parking page. Arriving 30 minutes early for a two-hour concert usually comes to about three hours, so one ticket saves roughly 9,500 won.

Three more things to know. First, if you use the Kakao T parking pass, switch it off before you leave, or the ticket discount will not apply: the venue warns that with the pass left on, the undiscounted amount may be charged automatically in the app. Second, driving in and out through the same gate within 10 minutes is free at any time. Third, the discount is applied at the booth on sight of the ticket, so with a mobile ticket have the screen ready.

Why do different sources quote different parking discounts?

Because there are two discount schemes on the Yonsei campus. The official parking page for Yonsei's Culture and Arts Spaces (the Centennial Hall concert hall, the Grand Auditorium, the open-air theatre and Baekyang-Nuri) lists a post-paid voucher scheme, arranged by event organisers, at 3,000 won up to 3 hours, 4,000 won for 3–5 hours and 5,000 won over 5 hours, and at least one music festival's FAQ has copied that table into its Kumho Art Hall Yonsei directions. The hall's own table is the 3,000 / 5,000 / 7,000 / 10,000 won one above.

If you are paying with a Kumho Art Hall Yonsei ticket, the hall's table is the one that applies. The two agree for anything under three hours, so the difference only matters for a longer stay, and in that case a call to the parking office (02-2123-2177~8) before you pay settles it.

How do I get there by subway or bus?

A 12–15 minute walk from exit 2 of Sinchon station on Line 2. According to the venue's official directions it is about 15 minutes on foot from exit 1 of Sinchon station on the Gyeongui–Jungang line, and from Lines 3 and 5 you change to a bus.

By bus, get off at 연세대앞 (the centre-lane stop) or 연세대학교앞. Trunk and seated routes stopping there include 153, 171, 172, 272, 470, 601, 606, 672, 673, 674, 700, 710, 742, 750A and 750B, and express and metropolitan routes include 1000, 1100, 1200, 1900, M7106, M7111, M7119, M7129 and M7154. The neighbourhood buses 서대문03 and 서대문04 stop at 연세대학교앞 and 연대앞. From the stop, walk in through the main gate and along Baekyang-ro to the Baekyang-Nuri building; the hall is on basement level 1.

What should I know about booking and collecting tickets?

Phone booking and enquiries are weekdays 9:00–17:00 only, and it is best to collect tickets at the lobby box office at least 30 minutes before the concert. The venue's official booking guide sets out the following.

• The hall charges no booking fee for its own concerts booked by phone, online or mobile. Kumho Classic Membership members get a discount on those concerts.
• Refunds are in full up to 10 days before the performance; from 10 days before, 10% of the payment is deducted, and no refund or change is possible on the day. Partial refunds are not available — cancel the whole booking and rebook.
• A concession ticket (disabled, national merit or senior) can be collected only by the entitled person, showing proof in person.
• The box office is busy just before curtain, so the venue asks you to be in the lobby 30 minutes before the concert.
• Tickets bought through another ticketing site are refunded or changed through that site.
