Seoul Art Center Doam Hall: car park entrances, the unpublished rate, and the bus

서울아트센터 도암 (Seoul Art Center Doam), the concert hall and gallery attached to Seoul Arts High School in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, runs its own car park inside the building, spread across four levels from basement 2 up to the second floor. What it does not do is publish the rate. On the directions page of its official site, the parking-fee row still reads "0,000 won per hour / 00% discount with centre use" — an unfilled template. This guide sets out what can be verified instead: how you get into the car park, which buses run there, and when the nearby cafés that validate parking actually close.

How do you get into the Doam Hall car park?

Through one of two entrances. The ground-floor entrance is on the right, up a ramp just before the pedestrian footbridge at the Pyeongchang-dong community centre, heading toward Bugak Tunnel. The basement entrance is on the right 15 metres past that same footbridge. The car park itself spans basement level 2 up to the second floor.

The building sits about a kilometre past Sangmyung University, heading toward Kookmin University, once you are through Jahamun Tunnel. That is the driving route the official directions page gives. Pyeongchang-dong is a hilly residential district, so navigating off the footbridge is the least confusing approach.

What does parking at Doam Hall cost?

There is no published rate. The directions page on the Seoul Art Center Doam website has a parking-fee row, but its value is still the unfilled template "0,000 won per hour / 00% discount with centre use". That was still the case when we checked on 27 September 2026. The site's FAQ board has no posts at all, and there is no separate amenities page.

Which means every parking rate circulating online for Doam Hall traces back to a visitor's account. The one we found gives 1,500 won for the first 30 minutes, 3,000 won per additional 30 minutes, 250 won per 5 minutes after the first hour and a 10-minute grace period, as of December 2025. None of that is officially confirmed, so do not plan a budget around it. Before a performance or exhibition that matters, call Doam Hall on +82-2-2287-0599.

Can a nearby café validate your parking?

Two are mentioned in visitors' accounts. Buying a drink at 서원안길, the café on the third floor of the arts centre, reportedly covers three hours of parking; buying one at 카페블레싱 on the ground floor of Yeneung Church across the road (81 Pyeongchangmunhwa-ro) reportedly covers two. Neither is published as an official policy, and one account notes that the in-house café does not open every day.

Cafe Blessing's hours can be verified, and there is a catch in them. It opens 08:00 to 19:00 Monday to Saturday (last orders 18:30) and 09:00 to 19:00 on Sunday. It closes at 19:00. So if you are counting on its validation for an evening performance, buy your drink before the show — it will already be shut when you come out. The number is +82-2-379-8860, and it has its own free car park.

Elsewhere in the accounts: spending about 30,000 won at the basement supermarket in the Gloria Building opposite the school reportedly bought about an hour of parking, and on some Sundays the school has left its own barrier up. Both are irregular or unclear enough that neither belongs in a plan.

How do you get there by public transport?

Take Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung station, leave by exit 3, walk 150 metres to the bus stop ahead and take route 1020 or 1711 to the 평창동 주민센터·서울예고 stop. That is the route on the official directions page. The Korean source post we started from said the exact bus routes could not be stated with confidence; in fact the official page lists the numbers in full.

Parking is tight across Pyeongchang-dong generally, and Doam Hall's own rate is unpublished. For an evening or weekend performance, the bus from Gyeongbokgung is the option you can actually cost out in advance.

How many seats does Doam Hall have?

1,084, split into 763 on the first floor and 321 on the second. The Seoul Art Center Doam website and the Seoul Culture Portal's venue listing print the same figure, and 763 plus 321 is exactly 1,084.

The KOPIS venue record registers Doam Hall at 1,083, one seat fewer. Since two of the venue's own sources agree right down to the per-floor split, plan against 1,084.

The stage dimensions are published too. The stage is 27.4 by 18.8 m, the proscenium 17.5 by 9 m, the grid 21 m and the battens 20 m. The acoustic shell is sized for a 100-piece ensemble, and the piano is a Steinway D-274. The venue describes the hall as designed around its architectural acoustics with carefully tuned reverberation, which points at recitals, classical programmes and choral work.

What is Doam Gallery, and when is it open?

An exhibition space of 593 sq m (about 179 pyeong) on the third floor, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 and closed Sundays, Mondays and public holidays. It has a moving-wall system and ERCO lighting. The ceiling height is listed as 3.3 to 6.8 m in the official specifications but as 3.3 to 6.4 m in the introductory text on the same page, so the two figures disagree.

If you are coming for an exhibition, check the Sunday and Monday closures first: there are days when a Doam Hall performance is on but the gallery is not open.

Are Seoul Art Center and the Seoul Arts High School arts centre the same place?

They are. Seoul Art Center Doam is an annexe built by Seoul Arts High School, founded in 1953, to mark its 70th anniversary. Ground was broken in February 2020 and the building was completed and opened on 26 May 2023. It comprises Doam Hall, the performance space, and Doam Gallery, the exhibition space, so a search for 서울예고 아트센터 lands on the same building.

The name is written 도암 (島巖), and the site lists Seoul Arts High School and Yewon School as sister institutions. The official introduction notes a café and an art shop inside the building. It was built for music, art and dance rooted in classical performance, and Doam Hall is a multipurpose house used for classical concerts, musicals, dance, plays and recitals.

What are the venue's basic details?

The KOPIS venue record lists this venue's homepage as yego.or.kr and its parking field as N. yego.or.kr does not currently resolve, and the actual official site is doam.me. Since there is a car park inside the building, the KOPIS parking field does not match the current state either.
