Youngsan Art Hall seating and parking: the 84 upper seats are not a balcony

Two questions the Youngsan Art Hall booking screen never answers: what you actually see from the 84 upstairs seats, and what the car park will cost. This guide works through the official Youngsan Art Hall site (youngsanarthall.com) — the seating chart, the directions page and three notices — together with our KOPIS venue record (FC000384), all checked on 3 September 2026.

Three things other guides leave out. The 84 upstairs seats are side blocks running along both walls, not a rear balcony. The 8 accessible seats are counted inside the 491 main-floor seats, which is why 491 + 23 + 84 comes to exactly 598. And the venue's own notice routes drivers "B6/B7 zone B → up to the 1st-floor lobby → change to the lift down to B2" — there is no single ride from the car park to the hall.

How many seats does Youngsan Art Hall have, and how are they split?

Youngsan Art Hall runs a single auditorium seating 598 in total. The legend on the official seating chart breaks it down like this.

One correction worth making. Because 491 + 23 + 84 is exactly 598, the 8 accessible seats sit inside the 491, not on top of it. The chart lists them on their own line alongside the total, which invites you to add them and reach 606. You should not.

The main floor runs from row 1 to row 16, and each row divides into a left, centre and right block. Seat numbers run continuously from 1 at the far left to 36 at the far right, with the centre block at 13–24. The last row, 16, keeps only the centre seats 15–21.

What is the view like from the upper level and the R seats?

The 84 upper seats do not face the stage. On the official chart, the sections marked as upper level are four vertical runs attached to the side walls, two on each side. The two runs nearer the stage are numbered 1–12 and the two behind them 13–21, so one side holds (12 + 12) + (9 + 9) = 42 seats and both sides come to exactly 84.

That makes the usual advice — "go upstairs and you see the whole stage from above" — a poor fit here. Choosing the upper level at this venue means looking at the stage from the side and slightly above. If a square-on view matters, the sure choice is the centre block of the main floor, seats 13–24.

The 23 stage-side R seats work the same way. R1, R2 and R3 run right beside the stage on the audience's right, so they are the closest seats in the house and also the most side-on. For a piano recital, where watching the hands and the pedals is half the point, that is an advantage. For an ensemble or an organ recital, where the balance of the whole stage is the point, it is not.

What does parking cost and where do you park?

Youngsan Art Hall has no car park of its own and uses basement levels 6 and 7 of the same building. With a validation coupon from the lobby desk it is 3,000 won for three hours, then 1,000 won per 10 minutes.

Two conditions apply. No coupon means no discount at all, and if you have already registered for another tenant's discount the two cannot be combined. Both sentences appear in the venue's own notice, "관람객 주차안내 및 오시는 길". The same notice mentions something most write-ups miss: there is a payment machine in the lobby, not only down on the parking levels.

Now a date. That rate table sits in a notice posted 25 January 2016, and as of 3 September 2026 it is still the standing text. That is a decade of stability — and also a decade since it was last revised. If the cost matters to your evening, ring 02-6181-5260 before you set off.

Learn the building's two names before you drive. The address is 101 Yeouigongwon-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Youngsan Art Hall calls it the Kukmin Ilbo building; your navigation app and the signage on site call it the CCMM building. They are the same building.

How do you get from the car park to the hall?

Park in zone B of basement 6 or 7, go up to the first-floor lobby, and change there to the lift that goes down to basement 2, where the hall is. That is the venue's own instruction, from its notice of 18 May 2022: "지하 6, 7층 B구역 주차 후 1층 로비로 이동, 1층 로비에서 영산아트홀(B2)로 이동하는 엘리베이터로 갈아타시기 바랍니다."

In a building that runs seven floors down, the parking levels and the auditorium sit at B6/B7 and B2 with no single ride between them. Budget more than five minutes between locking the car and finding your seat.

How do you get there by public transport?

The venue's official directions page offers three routes: Line 9 to National Assembly station (국회의사당역), Line 5 to Yeouinaru station (여의나루역), and the Yeouido Full Gospel Church bus stop. Most write-ups omit the Line 9 route entirely, but it is on the official page and it is the shorter walk.

The official sketch map shows why. The Kukmin Ilbo (CCMM) building sits on the west side of Yeouido Park, between the Full Gospel Church and the Taeyoung building, while Yeouinaru station is on the far, eastern side of the park. That ten-minute walk is ten minutes of crossing Yeouido Park. In midsummer, in the rain, or dressed for an evening concert, Line 9 or the church bus stop is the better call.

How many accessible seats are there, and where?

There are 8 accessible seats and all 8 are in row 1 of the main floor — seats 25–30 plus wheelchair positions L and R at either end of the row. Which also means they are the closest row to the stage.

Two sources agree on the figure. The official chart's legend reads "장애인석 8석(1열 25~30, 휠체어 L,R)", and our KOPIS venue record (FC000384) logs 8 accessible seats for the same hall. That KOPIS record also marks the site as having a car park, designated accessible parking bays and food and drink on site (a restaurant and a café). The seat totals match too: 598 in KOPIS, 598 on the official chart. Venues whose self-reported total disagrees with the sum of their own halls are common; this one lines up exactly.

Because the auditorium is two floors underground and the route from the car park involves changing lifts, calling 02-6181-5260 ahead of the day is the reliable move if you need assistance.

The building's arcade holds restaurants, a staff canteen on basement 3 and a florist — worth knowing at a hall where audiences routinely arrive carrying bouquets for the performer. Youngsan Art Hall's notice "CCMM 빌딩 아케이드 연락처" lists the florist's number along with the rest. That notice is dated 1 December 2016, though, so the tenants may have changed.

What kind of performances actually run here?

KOPIS holds 302 registered performances at Youngsan Art Hall, and 295 of them are Western classical music — 97.7% of everything staged here. The name says "art hall"; the programming is close to classical-only.

194 of those started within the last 365 days, counting back from 3 September 2026 — a curtain up roughly every other day, and almost all of them single-night recitals and society concerts. That is why picking a date first works better here than picking a venue first.

What sort of hall is Youngsan Art Hall?

Youngsan Art Hall opened with a ceremony on 29 March 1999, two floors below the Kukmin Ilbo (CCMM) building in Yeouido. KOPIS classifies it as a private venue outside the Daehangno district and records the same 1999 opening year.

The acoustics were designed by Nagata Acoustics, the firm behind Tokyo's Suntory Hall. The walls are finished in Crema Marfil marble and the floor in oak, and the hall is described as having a reverberation time of about 2.5 seconds. The stage carries four Steinway & Sons model D grand pianos, and the lobby is sized for more than 400 people at once.

The signature instrument is the Rieger pipe organ installed in 2002, built by Rieger Orgelbau of Austria and occupying the whole back wall of the stage. One caveat, though: several write-ups call it the first Rieger organ in a dedicated Korean classical hall, and neither the official site nor KOPIS carries that claim, so this guide states the installation year only.
